(Telecompaper) Telecoms shares were mostly down in week 26. Our index was off 0.7 percent, versus a minor 0.2 percent gain for the benchmark, the EuroStoxx 50. Orange Poland and Play Communications were down 7.1 and 5.7 percent in apparent profit taking. The volatile Ice Group was the week's winner, up 25 percent. Year to date, the Telecompaper Stock Index European Telecoms Services is up 5.8 percent, considerably underperforming the EuroStoxx 50 index, which is up 12.6 percent.

(Telecompaper) The Telecompaper Stock Index European Telecoms Services was up just 0.3 percent in week 25, behind the market's broader recovery as per the Eurostoxx 50's gain of 2.6 percent. United Internet, fresh out of the German multiband auction as a newcomer mobile network operator, was the weakest share, losing 7.9 percent. SES was down 7.5 percent as uncertainty over its 5G spectrum holdings in the US persists. VEON was the biggest winner (+18%), followed by Orange Poland (+10%). Of the index heavyweights, Deutsche Telekom was virtually unchanged (+0.1%) and Vodafone lost 2.5 percent.

(Telecompaper) Altice Europe and Tele Columbus were last week's biggest winners. The shares were up 11 and 20 percent, respectively. Altice, as a result, extended its year-to-date gain to +70 percent, whereas Tele Columbus reduced its year-to-date loss to -42 percent. The Telecompaper Stock Index European Telecoms Services ended week 24 up 1.1 percent, versus a practically unchanged EuroStoxx 50 index.
