Description Assigned to the EARS project the Consultant shall provide support to the routine monitoring, development and maintenance of the EARS system. The duties range from the support to the operation of the various EARS services components, to the analysis, design, implementation and maintenance of software and system functions. It also includes the settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures, the support to the procurement and installation of hardware and software, and the coordination with external providers of support services. In particular the tasks will include Analysis of the operational requirements for the EARS services and identification and implementation of the tools to fulfil them Architectural and detailed design, implementation, testing and support of the EARS related software and applications Design, implementation and testing of corrections and improvements. This may require the analysis of user requirements, the specification and installation of SW, the generation and maintenance of technical documentation Support the delivery of software externally developed, its installation, configuration and testing Support the operation of the systems, by monitoring the performance and, in case of anomalies, identifying and applying appropriate firstline corrective actions. This task requires the provision of standby and callout support out of normal working hours see below Preparation, validation and maintenance of EARS maintenance and operational procedures and technical documentation Preparation and production of routine reports as necessary Profile In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the Consultant shall have experience of software development, operation or maintenance in realtime systems, objectoriented design methodology and be very familiar with software development standards. The Consultant shall have a significant work experience in the UNIX SVR4 SUN Solaris, IBM AIX Operating System environments, and should be familiar, to the extent required by the performance of the above tasks, with networking, distributed applications, TCPIP services and Web services.
