In the course of enforcing and expanding its project activities, LuxSpace is recruiting an experienced Software Product Assurance Engineer for immediate employment. Job Profile The Software Product Assurance Engineer will support the Project Managers, the Software Department and the Product Assurance Manager for Software Product Assurance activity. The candidate has also to be able to perform technical tasks such as software analysis, architecture and design, although only as a support task. Tasks to be performed Define the project SW PA baseline necessary to satisfy SW PA requirements Onboard software and Ground software PA requirements, and other projectspecific requirements Ensure that an appropriate system is defined and implemented to obtain and demonstrate compliance to the applicable requirements Manage the reviews of the software products including code and documentation before the release to the customer Generate and maintain inhouse standards for Software Engineering Product Assurance purposes i.e. Software Lifecycle processes, procedures, guidelines and handbooks Support, if needed, the Procurement Engineers for the Product Assurance of the subcontracted software Typical Tasks include Prepare and maintain the Software Product Assurance Plan SPAP Manage the Product Assurance actions list related to software Participate in Projects and Quality progress meetings as necessary Participate in projects risk identification and analysis Support or participate in reviews performed at system level that include software aspects Control software related documents produced by the system engineering team Support to the Software Architect regarding Independent Software Verification and Validation ISVV activities, if any Support the configuration management established at system level and related to software e.g. CCB Provide adequate reporting Provide a Software Product Assurance Report for each system review Maintain a company Software Quality Handbook uptodate Interface with the Project Managers, the Product Assurance Manager and Customer on all subjects related to SW PA Required Skills, Experience and Candidate Profile University degree or equivalent MasterDiploma About 5 years of experience in Software Quality Product Assurance tasks is a must Experience in product assurance of embedded software Understanding of ECSS standards related to software and PA in particular ECSSEST40 and ECSSQST80 Good technical background in programming languages e.g. C, C, Java is highly desirable Comfortable dealing with customers and suppliers Ability to work and interface with a multinational team Methodical workapproach Taking responsibility and being proactive Willingness to travel and to be part of a collocated team for a limited time Good communication capabilities, analytical sense and priority setting abilities Languages Good English language skills spoken and written, German andor French knowledge will be considered an asset Driving license desirable class B EU citizenship or valid Luxembourg work permit mandatory for nationals from nonEUcountries or countries treated as such. DUTIES The postholder will report to the Head of the Software Product Assurance SPA Section. The Section is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of SPA expertise and standards and for providing support to projects of the European Space Agency in the area of software product assurance. Specific responsibilities and tasks will include preparing and implementing general programmatic and technical SPA requirements in relation to Agency standards and specifications establishing projectspecific programmatic and technical SPA requirements based on the ESA product assurance baseline supporting projects in the evaluation of contractors plans, technical specifications, and efforts proposed for the execution of SPA programmes supporting projects in the monitoring of the performance of the contractors SPA programmes to ensure their compliance with the SPA requirements established for the projects evaluating proposed concepts, designs, and operations for compliance with defined SPA requirements initiating and executing research and study activities in the fields of SPA requirements, techniques, methodologies and tools performing audits of contractors and their inhouse standards for compliance with ESA requirements and assessing the maturity of contractors software processes liaising with software engineering specialists on related matters contributing to dissemination of the results of the activities performed and the transfer of knowledge across the Agency. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in computer science, mathematics or software engineering and experience in at least three of the following areas software product assurance in critical realtime applications, software engineering, software configuration management, dependability assessment of software intensive systems, computeraided software development and maintenance, maturity assessment and auditing. Candidates should have good interpersonal and communication skills. They should have the ability to work autonomously, effectively and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment and to define and implement solutions in line with team and individual objectives and project deadlines. In addition, applicants should have good analytical, organisational and reporting skills, a proactive attitude to solving problems and an interest in innovative technologies. Candidates must be eligible for security clearance by their national security administration. For behavioural competencies expected from ESA staff, please refer to the ESA Competency Framework. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these two languages is required together with a working knowledge of the other language. A vacancy for a Principal Product Assurance Engineer Mechanisms has arisen within the Mechanisms and Cryogenic Coolers Group of Airbus Defence Space in Stevenage. Spacecraft Mechanisms are Single Point Failures and, as such, are designed, manufactured and tested to the most rigorous standards. As the Principal Product Assurance Engineer in the Mechanisms Group you will be responsible for ensuring that our exacting quality requirements both from Airbus and its Customers are implemented and maintained at all levels of the product lifecycle, from parts and subassembly procurement through to final equipment delivery. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include The Principal PA Engineer will either prepare, chair and run, or will actively participate and contribute to all levels of Gate review conducted on the mechanisms and the procured subassemblies, whether this be from the initial design phase for new product development, e.g. PDR, CDR or for generic equipment repeat builds, EQSR, MRR, MPCB, MIP, TRR, TRB, DRB. You will be responsible for the management, control, and disposition of all NonConformances in accordance with Airbus Procedures and Systems and any specific customer requirements including first and second closure, lessons learnt, and risk analysis. Working as part of a small dedicated equipment team with the Product Manager, Responsible Engineer, and other supporting disciplines, you will possess excellent communication and facilitation skills which enable you to interface at all levels, internally within Airbus Defence and Space nationally and internationally and with internal and external suppliers and customers. The Principal PA Engineer will also be responsible for the day to day supervision and guidance of the PA team within the Mechanisms Group, and for supporting the Mechanisms Group Head as part of the first line team. On a monthly basis you will produce a quality report and a nonconformance analysis report. You will monitor or produce metrics as deemed relevant or necessary, and will participate in the monthly business reviews. Whilst actively supporting the production and supply of Spacecraft Mechanisms within a small dedicated team, the Principal PA Engineer must have the confidence and strength of character to always put Quality First. This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Degree in a related Engineering discipline Electrical or Mechanical. Strong experience as a Quality Professional in the Space, Aerospace, Defence or related industry.
