Task Descriptions Development in particular the verification and validation of the Instrument Data Processing Facility IDPF Being able to use the Payload Data Generator PDG Responsible for software development for the PDG. In particular will be in charge of the analysis, coding and testing algorithms. Simulating the impact of the overall MTG data acquisition chain encompassing the geometric, radiometric and spectral deformations as well as a few ones like spatial resamplingremapping and data fusion functions. Experience and education Proficient in the English language, both written and spoken knowledge of another official ESA language is and asset. For site specific functions fluent knowledge of the local national language is also required. High level of flexibility as well as initiative and team spirit. Easy contact with personnel and wellbalanced autonomy in the execution of the requested tasks. Rigor, commitment and reliability in the execution of the assigned tasks. Highly proficient with modern electronics office automation tools in particular Microsoft Office suite and electronic mailing preferably Lotus Notes. Familiarity with ESA working environment in a similar position is a distinct advantage. DUTIES The postholder will report to the Head of the Mission and System Studies Sectionin the Future Missions Division and will be involved in the endtoend preparation of EO missions through appropriate engineering activities. The incumbent will work in close cooperation with staff within the Division as well as from other Divisions, in particular the Mission Science Division of the Directorate of Earth Observation Programmes. Full or partial responsibilities will include some or all of the following duties defining and managing activities for the overall preparation of future EO missions, including technology support activities initiating and performing internal studies to assess the results of industrial activities ensuring the definition and updating of the system specifications throughout the preparatory phases of EO missions, in close cooperation with other Divisions in the Department and with the relevant ScienceMission Advisory Groups ensuring the technical coherency of the system design, including system level budgets, system performance analyses, definition of spacecraft and payload subsystems and related data processing contributing to the evaluation of industrial and scientific proposals contributing to the preparation of technical and scientific dossiers on ESA EO missions contributing to the coordination of technology developments in support of EO missions supporting the work of Young Graduate Trainees, Research Fellows and Contractors in the Division, in cooperation with nominated tutors as applicable. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in engineering or physics, and some years of experience in space missions, preferably including experience with system performance evaluation andor payload design. Candidates should be thorough and analytical in their approach, be able to work independently, have good communication skills and strong leadership qualities. The position involves some travel, mainly within Europe. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these two languages is required together with a working knowledge of the other language. Knowledge of another member state language is an asset.
