The European GNSS Agency GSA is responsible for the operations and service provision for the European Global Navigation Satellite Systems GNSS EGNOS and Galileo. Underpinning these efforts is the Galileo Services department which is in charge of managing the exploitation phases of the Galileo Programme, and in particular will Manage the execution of the Galileo exploitation phase in compliance with the European Commission EC GSA delegation agreements, controlling the associated schedule, costs and risks Analyse, define and implement the Galileo exploitation concept Manage the Galileo infrastructure operations, maintenance, protection, ongoing improvement and evolutions activities, through associated contracts andor working arrangements Manage the standardisation activities associated with the Galileo Programme Manage the operational interfaces and services provision to the Galileo users Liaise with the GSA Market Development Department for the services adoption and continuous improvement of the Galileo use Liaise with the GSA Security Department and Security Accreditation Board for ensuring the accreditation of the Galileo systems and services The Galileo Ground System Engineer will actively contribute to the fulfilment of the Agencys duties related to the deployment of the Galileo Ground infrastructure. Hisher tasks and responsibilities will in principle include without limitation Monitoring the Implementation of Ground Infrastructure Releases GMS and GCS, and review and assessment of associated documentation Reviewing the Ground Infrastructure Deployment and Evolutions Implementation Plan Contributing to the technical management of the Galileo Operations contract GSOp managed by the Agency, in the area of Ground Segment Deployment activities Monitoring deployment activities, such as the operational validation activities in relation to Ground Segment GMS and GCS and assessing the readiness of operations and Ground Segment for entry into operations Participating and representing the GSA in operations related boards, such as Anomaly Review Boards and Service Incidents Response Contributing to the strategic and operational planning processes Reviewing of the corresponding inputs and participating in project reviewsmeetings Operational Validation Readiness Review, Operational Validation Review, Migration Kickoff and Checkpoint Reviewing regular and ad hoc reports produced by GSOp on all topics related to maintenance and deployment activities Supporting the Operations Change Control Board OPSCCB by preparing, reviewing and assessing changes to the operational contractual and technical baseline in the frame of the Ground Segment Deployment activities ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA 1. A level of education which corresponds to completed university studies attested by a diploma when the normal period of university education is four years or more OR A level of education which corresponds to completed university studies attested by a diploma and at least one year of appropriate professional experience when the normal period of university education is three years 2. JOB DESCRIPTION The facilities within ESTRACK require operations engineering services as provided by Ground Operations Engineers GOE assigned to a set of missions. Ground Operations Engineers are responsible for providing the ops engineering services required for their missions during preparation and execution phase. During the routine phase, they are the first level of escalation of services provided by the Network Operations Centre NOC. Their typical counterparts on the side of ESA missions are Analysts and Spacecraft Operations Engineers. The GOE services are defined below. There is a prime and deputy GOE for each mission The core services of Ground Operations Engineering are as follows Provide services for the mission specific validation of ground segment elements prior to critical operations and after major modifications during the support Support services for the definition of mission specific ground station configuration in the ops preparation phase and after major modifications Support services for the validation of station configuration and MC for remote operations Provide services for validation of external tracking stations Provide supervision and training services to the NOC during the lifetime of the mission Generate and maintain mission specific Ground Segment Operations documentation e.g. Ground Operation Procedures, training material during lifetime of mission Followup services for investigations of anomalies incidents and problems affecting the ground services to the mission. For our activities in the European Space Agency, we are currently seeking to employ a highly motivated and enthusiastic Ground Segment Engineer to work in an exciting innovative international environment The roles will be part of a newly established Network Operations Centre NOC tasked with coordinating, configuring and monitoring activities related to the ESA ground segment, specifically the Telemetry, Tracking and Command TTC stations of the ESTRACK ground station network. The NOC is responsible for providing 1st and 2nd line support to the ESA space missions and its users. It provides Ground Operations, Operational IT and Operational Control Centre services and acts as single point of contact for realtime service requests from ESTRACK customers.
