Ground Segment Software Development Engineer

The location for this position is on one of the major sites of our client in Southern Germany. Our client is one of the key players in the European satellite and launcher industries. At this site around 2500 people are employed, working on space and defense projects. The space division is specialized in Earth Observation, Navigation and Science. The job holder will be working on the development of the Satellite Ground Segment for a national German SAR Synthetic Aperture Radar reconnaissance mission. The position is related to the Software SW Engineering of the Mission Planning System MPS and the Central Service Element CSE, covering e.g. ground segment monitoring and workflow management. The position is dedicated to Prototyping of MPS and CSE interfaces and critical components for feasibility analysis and architecture and specification refinement of MPS and CSE subsystem. Tasks and Responsibilities Implementation prototype of REST Representational State Transfer interface simulator REST, Java 7 EE, Groovy Refinement of MPS and CSE specification Doors Support in defining MPS and CSE architecture Enterprise architect Support in set up of SW engineering Tool chain GIT, Stash, Jira, Jenkins, Gradle, Chef, Puppet Creation of detail design documentation JavaDoc as well as user documentation Creation and perform testing JUnit or similar, Arquillian Support integration testing and of virtualization setup Support in SW process automation testing, deployment. Requirements Degree in relevant engineering discipline At least 4 years of relevant work experience in the space field Expert in Java 8 and Java EE Deep knowledge in Application Server Technology is required Knowledge of RESTful architectures, WebTechnologies HTML would be a plus Knowledge in SW engineering Tools NetBeans, GIT, Stash, Jira, Jenkins, Gradle would be a plus Knowledge in agile processes and tools e.g. JIRA would be a plus Fluency in English is required and negotiation level of German is necessary. Main responsibilities You will support the Head of the GNSS Ground Segment Security, Site accreditation and Security Operations Unit. The tasks associated to this service will include EGNOS V2 and V3 activities related to guidance and monitoring of the implementation of System Security Requirements by the EGNOS prime contractors the follow up of the implementation of these requirements within the Segment design down to element level the selection of evaluated secure element when COTS are selected or the follow up of the secure element evaluation during its development e.g. Common Criteria interaction with the Segment Prime contractors and its subcontractors for what concern security implementation site security measures, their definition and their implementation within the EGNOS Sites secure operations, the definition of the EGNOS SECOPS and the follow up of their implementation within EGNOS the definition of the security operational measures in support to the security risk treatment required to cover identified security risk the support to the Mission Security Engineering Board the support to the EGNOS Security Accreditation Panel. You will work closely with the EGNOS System Security Accreditation engineer and the EGNOS System Security Design Engineer colocated in Toulouse but as well as with the GNSS Security team located at ESTEC. Ideal candidate Requirements You should bring a Master degree or equivalent qualification together with experience in security risk analysis, and experience in the following Consolidated experience in security architecture Experience in penetration testing activities Experience in System and Security Engineering Satellite Navigation Concept for overtime management and organization skills. You must be fluent in English, both in speech and writing, with excellent communication, reporting and presentation skills. You should have or be eligible for personal security clearance from your national security authority. Based on the Isle of Man, the Senior Engineer, Ground Systems Radio Frequency and Tracking, Telemetry Control will implement and provide operational support for ground stations and systemsprocesses which are used to enable SES spacecraft deploymentoperations as well as to deliver services to SES customers. The incumbent will design, analyze, specify, implement and enhance SES TTC and Teleport Communication Systems that SES requires in order to fulfill its multiple satellite missions.
