Job description For our customer, EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking an experienced Ground System Operations Engineer to support the EUMETSAT Copernicus Programme in the area of System External Interfaces. Copernicus, previously known as GMES Global Monitoring for Environment and Security, is the European Union programme for the establishment of a European capacity for Earth Observation. Responsibilities As a Ground System Operations Engineer, you will support the routine operations phase of the Sentinel3A S3A as well as the operations preparation, commissioning and subsequent routine operations of sentinel 3B satellite and the procurement of Sentinel3 C and D. You will perform routine operations tasks such as Definition and maintenance of system operations procedures, including System and ground segment procedures and operations guides Liaison with the spacecraft operations team to ensure the continuity and optimisation of spacecraft monitoring and control activities Liaison and coordination with the ground segment FOS and PDGS operations teams and system operations analysts to ensure the continuity and optimisation of ground segment and mission operations through procedure and operations guide updates, configuration changes, database or user interface changes, etc. Production and maintenance of operations documentation Joint Operations Rules and Procedures, Operations Interface Control Documents etc. Interface and coordination with the systems maintenance teams and industry representatives to ensure optimised performance, including participating in the definition and implementation of any changes Provision of support to operational ground segment analyses Provision of support, as required, to critical operations Processing and coordination of system anomalies, their documentation, investigation, classification and resolutionmitigation, including participation in Anomaly Review Boards Participation in technical meetings, formal reviews, and scheduling and planning meetings Processing and coordination of system modifications, including their documentation, approval, and implementation, including participation in Change Review Boards Support to, and participation in, the functional verification and operational validation of system upgrades and evolutions, both standalone and in the context of the overall Sentinel3 ground segment Provision of training, through written materials, practical demonstrations and presentations, to other members of the Operations Team This is a fulltime position with a planned starting date in August 2016. The primary responsibilities of this role will be The consultant shall provide expert technical support in the MTG IVV activities, mainly to the MTG GS AIV Manager and within the MTG GS Team. The tasks to be performed by the consultant include 1. maintain the GS IVV plans, schedules and verification control documents 2. support the generation, maintenance, review of test specifications and procedures 3. support the identification and development, or procurement, of test tools, and generation of required test data 4. support the preparation, execution, assessment, documentation of tests, including the reporting at relevant test readiness and test review board meetings 5. perform investigations into anomalies and their documentation in anomaly reports, supporting anomaly review board meetings 6. liaise with facility, MME and system teams for the resolution of relevant issues at facility, GS or system level, and the coordination of IVV activities across levels 7. support the facilities procurement and their reviews in the area of IVV 8. perform analysis and assessments of technical issues relevant to the GS IVV activities 9. support the conduct of GS reviews 10. support the Technical Officer of the MTG IVV Support Service in the definition and coordination of the activities to be provided by the service 11. deputize the MTG GS AIV Manager if so requested in his absence. All tasks shall be performed in accordance with the EUMETSAT Quality System and any complementary procedures at Divisional or Programme level for configuration and documentation management. The tasks and the relevant timeframes will be assigned to the Consultant through the release of workpackages. Requirements Heshe shall combine a solid knowledge and expertise in the following areas specification and design of space missions ground segments, their interfaces and dataflows development lifecycles approaches and techniques for integration, verification and validation.
