Flight Dynamics Engineer, Sentinel3 mf The Mission Our customer, EUMETSAT, will be managing routine phase flight operations for the Sentinel3 low earth orbiting satellites. The first Sentinel3 spacecraft is currently scheduled for launch in September 2015. The objectives of the Sentinel3 earth observation mission include measurement of seasurface topography, sea and landsurface temperature and ocean and landsurface colour in support of ocean forecasting and environmental monitoring. The Challenge We are looking for a Flight Dynamics Engineer to be located at our customers site in Darmstadt, Germany who will support our customer in performing the flight dynamic operations for the Sentinel3 spacecraft. The Flight Dynamics Engineer will mainly perform tasks related to determination and maintenance of the satellite orbit and generation of products for the payload data ground segment and flight operations segment. The Copernicus Sentinel3 flight dynamics system is based on NAPEOS product, already in used by EUMETSAT EPS mission. The Flight Dynamics Engineer shall maintain, validate and document the operational implementation in all mission phases. Individual tasks include Manoeuvre planning, execution and evaluation Performance analysis of the attitude and orbit control subsystem Performance analysis of the flight dynamics software Production and extraction of flight dynamic products support to the relevant integration, verification and validation activities contribution to the establishment and selection of flight dynamics and mission analysis standards, methods and tools This is a fulltime position with a planned starting date in March April 2015. Your Qualifications Applicants shall have a university degree in physics, mathematics, or closely related subject, ideally with specialization in orbital mechanics or astrodynamics. Essential skills are 5 years experience with operational flight dynamics of low earth orbit spacecraft using the NAPEOS ESOC Navigation Package for Earth Observing Satellites or a NAPEOS derived software Solid grasp of the physics underlying orbital mechanics of low earth orbiting spacecraft 3 years of application software development in including Fortran 90 and TclTk English fluency, both verbal and written Desirable skills are Experience with specification, development and operation of space systems Practical experience with the definition, specification, development, verification, validation and operation of a LEO flight dynamics system Thorough understanding of attitude orbit control subsystems Software technology skills in additional programming languages, such as C and C on both UNIX and MS Windows systems, Specific experience familiarity with the Sentinel3 spacecraft or alternatively, experience with similar earth observation missions Experience in a similar consultancy role, as a resident consultant operating onsite within a customer organisation Experience with an international satellite organisation or similar entity Terma offers At Terma, we consider skilled employees, enthusiasm and job satisfaction as the very foundation of our success and as a prerequisite for the development of the bestinclass solutions that Terma provides.
