Job Description What we offer if you join our amazing team Competitive Salary Corporate Benefits Package Exciting relocation package if applicable Company events Main Responsibilities The NOC Technician will be part of an integrated team which provides 247 monitoring and control of Telemetry, Tracking and Command TTC stations of the ESTRACK ground station network, Operational IT and Operational Control Centre services at ESAs European Space Operations Centre in Darmstadt, Germany. The team, located in the ESOC Network Operations Centre, provides support using a variety of computer and network hardware and software. The NOC acts as the first point of contact for users, missionsprojects and second line support teams. As Network Operations Center NOC Technician you will concentrate your activities on the following Liaise with spacecraft and mission operations engineers as well as staff on duty at other support units, ground stations and external Agencies to establish and continuously maintain a comprehensive overview on the availability of and the demand for utilization of resources provided by the ground segment facilities. Supervise and coordinate scheduled support activities. Monitor the progress of station configurations for satellite passes through voice coordination or remote monitoring systems. Schedule Ground Stations and OCC facilities in realtime outside normal working hours. Configure and monitor station configurations for satellite passes as well as data transmissions and performance. Respond immediately to any anomaly affecting operations relevant procedures shall be initiated and 1st line maintenance activities executed as required in order to restore operations. Document and track anomalies, call out 2nd3rd party supportescalate and followup on incident resolution. Reporting and documentation. Act as first line of contact for users of critical systems. Provide 1st line computer and network support to all eligible users including incident, problem, change request and user requestcomplaints handling. Actively monitor all operational IT systems, applications and networks and react immediately on potential issues or outages by Logging and escalating incident tickets according to procedure Identify the impacted servicesusers and inform all relevant parties Initiate incident resolution or mitigating actions to restore the service asap Call outescalate to 2nd line support or external providers according to procedure Followup on incident resolutionprogress and inform interested parties of the status Prioritise work according to criticality of systems, schedules and targets. Operation, fault finding and repair on the network and on active network components CISCO using Ethernet and TCPIP protocols and by logging oncommanding active network components. In line with procedures perform contingency and scheduled reconfigurations, hardware and software maintenance, test and remedial activity, so as to minimise resource impact. Perform various housekeepingadministrative duties. Work to predefined schedules and service levels, actively participate in recommending technical and procedural improvements to benefit the service. Provide round the clock cover in a rotating shift pattern, with adequate information handover between shifts. Maintain a log of all relevant activities and events. The following would be seen as an asset Previous experience with remote operations of a network of unmanned satellite ground stations or with local operations and maintenance of a manned satellite ground station Sound understanding of ESTRACK ground stations functionality, configurations requirements, and operations constraints Interest in and ability to coach train other staff Some knowledge of VMS, Unix, Console Works, NetBackup, CDROM production, CiscoWorks, HPOV, CISCO Firewalls, QIP, MS Windows operating systems, ITSM tools A good understanding of IT security concepts, technology and best practices Knowledge of ITIL, certification a plus Knowledge of, or proven ability of linear faultfinding, diagnosis and resolution methodology. Note This is a 247 position candidates must be able to work rotating shifts. The Service Delivery Manager is responsible for providing comprehensive endtoend service provision for the Mission Operations Infrastructure IT MOIIT Business Area within the defined SLA, taking full responsibility of activities within his domain. MOIIT covers both infrastructural and mission critical computer systems as well as communication systems. The NOC Services at ESOC maintains and operates these infrastructures and more, covering everything from 247 first line monitoring and service desk to 2nd line teams and engineering activities. You will focus on maintaining good relationships with the ESA Business Area Manager BAM and the users of the service and supports the Service Manager in delivering an excellent overall service to our customer. The high level of interaction with the customer and contract staff requires distinct customer service and service management experience. As Service Delivery Manager for Mission Operations Infrastructure IT you will concentrate your activities on the following Provide a technical interface to the Business Area Manager BAM in charge. Take ownership of the endtoend operational IT services across a matrix organisation. Ensure tasks are scheduled in an efficient manner and that priorities are met. Ensure all staff are aware of, and are adequately trained for their tasks. Produce shift, oncall and annual leave schedules, increasing onsite or oncall support during major operational support phases as required. Monitor all aspects of the service to ensure agreed service levels, schedules and procedures are properly achieved and followed. Responsibility for all relevant ITIL processes. Ensure close collaboration with other support groups on resolution of problems, implementation of projects and engineering activities. Ensure punctuality and accuracy of reports and statistics on all activities. Provide focal point of escalation to 3rd line onoff site support. Assist in developing SLAs and OLAs with all active parties, and ensure they are complied with. Ensure infrastructure changes are scheduled to ensure minimal impact to the user community. Adhere to current site procedures technical, environmental, safety and security. Support the Service Manager in driving the evolution of the service, identifying problems, workload issues or other deficiencies within the team. Create and maintain accurate procedures and work instructions. Work occasional shifts outside normal working hours, if required. Maintain and monitor internally auditing of the AssetConfiguration Management Database. Produce minutes of meetings and reports in a timely fashion. Attend user meetings, briefings, user groups and workshops as required. Successful Candidate Do you think you are the person we are looking for? Indepth service management experience in a critical operational environment. Team leadership, organisational and time management, good interpersonal aptitude and strong service ethic. Indepth knowledge of operational routine and contingency procedures. Problem Solving aptitude. Very good knowledge of current IT technologies, systems, applications and tools. PC literacy MS Office 365, MS SharePoint, Lotus Notes. DegreeHNC equivalent preferred. Experience in activities applicable to spacecraft operations. Experience in science operations and interfacing with instrument Principle Investigators Science Operations Centers. Familiarity with SCOS 2000 based MCS and relevant associated subsystems DABYS.. Coordination with other service providers in operations team player. Interaction with other service providers in operations and other fields e.g. science ground segment. Ability to work independently and innovatively. Fluency in English, both speech and writing. The following skills would be highly desirable Familiarity with an ESAlocation environnement. Some experience in dealing with external interfaces like instrument PIs, SOCs. Familiarity with operational simulators, especially the ones based on SimSat. Familiarity with MOIS automation interfacing with a SCOS2000 MCS. Familiarity with Ground station scheduling processes.
