Dissemination Operations Engineering Support 1413002 Job Description As a member of the Realtime Services System Operations Division, the Key person shall provide support to the routine monitoring, development and operation of the current and future EUMETSAT dissemination systems. The duties range from the support to the operation of the various dissemination components, to the analysis, testing, and implementation of new data streams and monitoring and reporting functions. This task requires the provision of standby and callout support out of normal working hours see below Support to the operations of data encryption functions in the ground and space segment of EUMETSAT programs Control, population and operation of dissemination related databases and configuration files for both inhouse and remote systems Support to the preparation, validation and maintenance of ground segment operational procedures Support to dissemination services related training of the Control Centre Team Support in the analysis and resolution of user enquiries related to dissemination services Support to the HW and SW configuration of EUMETCast Reception Stations Support to the rollout and validation of new releases of EUMETCast Reception Station SW packages Investigation into system anomalies that impact on the data dissemination services Generation of Engineering Change Proposals to improve the operational effectiveness of the encryption and dissemination functions Support to design, implementation and verification testing of corrections and improvements Support to the validation, verification and rollout of new releases of dissemination and encryption software Coordination of the operational validation of releases and changes affecting the dissemination system Definition and implementation of dissemination service monitoring and reporting tools, and generation of related reports Support to the generation and maintenance of a products database for dissemination administration Participation in meetings and reviews. Required Skills and Experience University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline. Minimum 5 years of experience in operations or software maintenance of real time data dissemination systems, and be familiar with DVBS satellite communications and ground segment operations. The Key person shall have significant work experience on operating system level in major Linux distributions and Windows 2000, XP, Windows7. Computer literacy, including Configuration, installation and scripting for Linux and Windows Evaluationanalysis of systemapplication events and logs Tool based presentation of logs and results Excel etc. Monitoring of near real time data flows in large computer networks Satellite based and terrestrial data distribution systems Provision of near realtime data services in a highavailability environment 247 First and second level support in data services Interaction with endusers Coordination of system changes and interfaces with external organisations encryption technologies, USB smart cards, TripleDES Formalised hardwaresoftwaresystem testing Configuration control. The Key person shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work with a minimum of supervision. Description The SREO Computer Support Group CSG is providing computer support to all science operations centres and science ground segments located at ESAC, either in development or in operational phase. Under this work package service shall be provided to support ESA in system administration activities for those computer systems used for science operations and research activities. These computers are general servers or workstations mainly based on Linux and Sun Solaris, Macintoshes, PC for Office Automation activities. The environment also includes Disk Storage infrastructure, Virtual infrastructure as well as GRID and Cloud computing infrastructures. Systems can be physical machines or provided through virtual infrastructure. These systems are connected to networks organized by functions operational, office and development, external services, GRID, Cloud and administration networks. Specific service tasks would include installation, configuration, deployment, integration, monitoring, administration and maintenance of these computer systems, scientific and commercial software installation and administration, data backup and retrieval, interface with IT vendors for quotation, installation and maintenance agreements, users IT support, defining and operating computers operational procedures, hardware inventory tracking.
