Mission Control Operations Engineering Support Engineer mf

LSE Space is looking for an experienced Engineer mf in order to fulfill the duty as Mission Control Operations Engineering Support for our customer EUMETSAT in DarmstadtGermany. The tasks of these positions include in particular Support to routine operations Definition and maintenance of missioncontrol operations procedures, including System and ground segment procedures and operations guides Liaison with the spacecraft operations team to ensure the continuity and optimisation of spacecraft monitoring and control activities Liaison with the operations analysts to ensure continuity and optimisation of databaserelated activities Interface with other facilities within the operational ground segments to ensure the continuity and optimisation of ground segment and mission monitoring and control activities Interface with external elements of the operational Ground Segments to ensure the continuity and optimisation of data exchanges with the mission control systems Interface with the mission control systems maintenance team and industry representatives to ensure optimised performance, including participating in the definition and implementation of any changes Provision of support to operational ground segment analyses Provision of standbyoncall support as part of a team of MCS engineers Provision of support, as required, to critical operations Processing of system anomalies, their documentation, investigation, classification and resolutionmitigation, including participation in Anomaly Review Boards Participation in further technical meetings, formal reviews, and scheduling and planning meetings. Support to modifications to the operational systems Interface with project teams on the implementation of system upgrades to support major operations projects, including System MidTerm Evolution Plan, recurrent satellites, and any System hardware and operating system obsolescence upgrade. Processing of system modifications, including their documentation, approval, and implementation, including participation in Change Review Boards Support to, and participation in, the functional verification and operational validation of mission control systems and related elements, both standalone and in the context of an overall ground segment. Support to the preparations for recurrent satellites and future satellite programs Provision of support to the development and operations preparation for recurrent satellites in existing operational programmes such as MetopC and MSG4 Provision of support to the development and operations preparation for future operational programmes such as Sentinel3, MTG and EPSSG. Support to operations teams Provision of training, through written materials, practical demonstrations and presentations, to other members of the Operations Team. Qualifications Experience Academic and work related requirements University degree in engineering, science or equivalent. Required experience and skills are Deep knowledge ofoperation of spacecraft control systems Proven travck record developing andor maintaining spacecraft mission control systems software Solid work experience developing andor maintaining software for a UNIX operating system Work experience with the SCOS spacecraft control system Experience defining and implementing the verification and validation of spacecraft mission control systems software Perfect command of English, verbal and written Selfmotivated and proactive work style Excellent communication skills Strong data analysis, problem solving, processing and synthesis skills The following experience would be additional assets Use of databases and SQLrelated querying in relation to spacecraft mission control systems Definition, development, integration and acceptance testing of spacecraft mission control systems Operations preparation and routine operations of Geostationary GEO and Low Earth Orbit LEO satellite systems Use of configuration management systems such as CVS Use of satellite simulators Familiarity with ECSS and CCSDS standards related to spacetoground interfaces and applicable to Satellite Monitoring Control Systems Packet Telemetry and Telecommand standards, PUS Packet Utilisation Standard, etc. Familiarity with flight dynamics and mission planning functions and systems as applied to satellite operations Familiarity with EPOCH IPS MC product suite from Integral Systems now Kratos Windows operating system Linux operating system leading a small team of engineers. Description The Key person shall work in the Operations and User Services Department as a member of the Metop Spacecraft Operations Team. The key person shall be assigned and trained to provide operations expertise and support to one or more platform subsystems and or payload instruments, depending on his or her experience and the overall team needs. The key person shall also participate in coordinating the satellite operations activities of other team members and external teams responsible for onboard software management, simulator support, mission control, mission planning, flight dynamics and ground stations. Furthermore, the key person shall support system and operations preparation activities for MetopC, for Metop Second Generation satellites and possibly also for Sentinel3 and JasonCS. The key person shall be required to support operations during normal working hours, as well as support the oncall operations engineer rota, such that safe and efficient operations are ensured by the Spacecraft Operations Team on a 247 basis. The tasks of the Key person will typically include Support to the routine operations of Metop A, B and preparing for MetopC, comprising o Provision of operational expertise to one or more platform subsystems andor payload instruments o Maintain the corresponding operations documentation and flight procedures, including the update and operational validation of procedures releases in a configuration controlled environment o Perform trending and performance analysis on the corresponding subsystems and instruments, including definition and possibly prototyping of additional analysis checks where necessary o Investigations into satellite anomalies. This may require a close cooperation with the Operations Support Entity in ESTEC and Industry o Participation in the satellite oncall support rota o Identification and support to implementation of system and process improvements concerning the Metop Spacecraft Operations Team responsibilities and interfaces. Support to the system and operations preparation of Metop Second Generation satellites o Provide inputs and or review the definition of system and satellite operational concepts o Review space to ground interface specifications and flight operations manuals o Support the definition of tools and processes required to prepare for and operate the satellites. Support to the system and operations preparation of other LEO satellites o Provide operations preparation support as required to the Sentinel3 and JasonCS developments. Profile In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the Key person shall have a demonstrated experience in one or more of the following Spacecraft monitor and control operations Spacecraft operations preparation engineering Low Earth Orbit spacecraft design or Assembly Integration and Test activities at system or subsystem level. Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the Key person to have experience with some of the following Inorbit operations of Low Earth Orbit Earth Observation satellites Experience in the operation or development of satellite ground segment facilities, in particular procedure development, monitor and control, mission planning, onboard software management, performance analysis, configuration management and simulator facilities. Specification of system and operational concepts, facility requirements Familiarity with system change control and configuration management procedures. Data analysis software packages such as MATLAB. Support to Science Operations LISA Pathfinder

A Spanish leader company in Aerospace Engineering and Scientific services with more than 45 years of experience working for NASA and 35 years working for ESA seeks a candidate for a position of Supportto Science Operations LISA Pathfinder located at ESAC Villafranca MadridSpain. LISA Pathfinder LPF is the technology demonstrator for the LISA mission and its primary goal is to demonstrate the critical technologies needed for LISA. The pay load onboard LPF will consist of the European LISA Technology Package LTP and a contribution provided by the NASAJPL, the Disturbance Reduction SystemDRS. The Science and Technology Operations Centre STOC is the point of interface to the scientific community, and is responsible for the payload scheduling, quicklook data analysis, data processing and archiving. During the operational phase of the mission extensive stays at ESOC Darmstadt, Germany may be needed. Specific tasks requirements for this position 1. Activities during the development phase a STOC system engineering The service to be provided by the Operations Engineer will entail supporting the system engineering activities of the STOC. This includes Define and maintain the toplevel system design of the Science Operations Ground Segment in the different mission phases Support the definition of the interfaces between the STOC and the MOC and the writing maintenance of the STOCMOC ICD Define the interfaces between the STOC and the LTP DRS and write the STOCLTP and STOC DRS ICDs Write the STOC Operations Plans Write the STOC Operations Procedures b STOC SW development The Operations Engineer will i monitor the development of the software modules e.g. Mission Planning, Data Ingestion, Simulator, ii be responsible of the installation of these tools and their configuration control at STOC and iii perform their acceptance tests. c STOC integration Ground Segment Tests The Operations Engineer will provide service support for the definition, preparation and execution of i the STOC integration tests, ii the Ground Segment tests SOVTs and iii the STOC Simulations. This includes Prepare test plans, test data and procedures to applied during these tests Participate in the tests, the debriefings and write the necessary test reports and raise SPRs as well as nonconformance reports as appropriate 2. Activities during the operational phase a STOC System Engineering The Operations Engineer will continue to provide service activities in operations with the activities performed during the development phase. This includes Maintenance of the interfaces between the STOC and the MOC, LTP DRS and their relevant ICDs Maintenance of the STOC Operations Plans Maintenance of the STOC Operations Procedures b STOC operational duties The Operations Engineer will be responsible for providing a service to a number of operational duties. This includes Generate the operational payload mission planning files to be sent to the MOC Monitor the data ingestion tasks that will receive the telemetry and auxiliary data from MOCs Data Disposition System Support the data archiving tasks that will populate the archive Support the investigation of payload anomalies and the implementation of the recovery c STOC SW maintenance The service provided by the Operations Engineer will cover the monitoring of the maintenance of the software modules and provide to the developers the priorities for the resolution of the software problems as seen from the users side. The service provided by the Operations Engineer will cover being responsible for the installation of these tools and their configuration control at STOC.
