DUTIES Reporting to the Head of the System and Flight Operations Section, the postholder will have the following duties evaluating the status of the current Galileo constellation operations and service provision, and interfacing with the Galileo Operations Contractor to ensure the preparation and execution of operations and plans actively participating in the chain of command as defined by the Galileo Mission and Security Rules assessing, in the case of contingencies, whether the mission objectives can be met and assisting with declaring the mission impacted if required participating in spacecraft anomaly review boards, supporting the evaluation and authorisation of any recovery action required ensuring via the Galileo Operations Contractor the operational readiness of both ground and space segments, and participating in the relevant reviews including Operations Readiness Reviews ORRs, Launch Readiness Reviews LRRs, Exploitation Reviews, as needed interfacing with the Galileo Space Segment to ensure that the satellite functionalities and performance, including the current OBSW and its future versions, fulfil the mission objectives and operability requirements supporting the procurement of the future Galileo satellite batches during all phases of the procurement, and, later on, operations, including the preparation of the related project documentation supporting the Quarterly Progress Meeting with the operations contractor, preparing Work Order Amendment Requests and evaluating related Proposals as well as maintaining the KPIs applicable to Flight Operations supporting the Galileo Project System Design Experts in technical aspects, technical matters, including spacecraft and segment design and operations documentation supporting the definition of operational aspects and future procurement of the Galileo Second Generation as required, ensuring the consistency of the system design with the Galileo Second Generation Operations concepts coordinating the interaction between the operations team and the G2G system design team ensuring the consistency of the system design with the Galileo Second Generation Operations Concepts participating in review panels and evaluation boards for Galileo Second Generation activities as required preparing the operational documentation for the Galileo Second Generation activities. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in engineering or physics, together with longstanding professional experience in the domain of spacecraft operations andor ground segment development with satellite navigation systems e.g. GPS, Galileo is considered highly desirable. Candidates should be systemminded and be able to work as a member of an interdisciplinary and intercultural team. Good communication skills, the ability to build strong relationships with all interfaces of the function as well as an ability to plan and organise efficiently are required to be successful in this position. For behavioural competencies expected from ESA staff, please refer to the ESA Competency Framework. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these two languages is required together with a working knowledge of the other language. Knowledge of another member state language is an asset.
