Specific tasks to be performed Giving assistance to run tests in the laboratory Motivated to realise new experimental setup in a timely manner Be able to summarise testing activities in technical reports Main activity is to support practical laboratory work prepare and execute test activities etc. General tasks to be performed Main activity is to support practical laboratory work. Providing assistance, prepare and execute test activities in the laboratory and supporting in the following areas To set up and monitor standard, materials related tests in a variety of special environmental test chambers particularly Atomic Oxygen and Low Orbit tests, which simulate various space environments. Operating state of the art space simulation facilities UV and particles as well as synergistic testing and evaluation of the effects on materials tested. Performing common materials analysis investigations like microscopic spectroscopic analysis after space simulation. Performing surface and near surface sensitive characterisation of materials after space environmental simulation. This requires the operation of state of the art instruments like Raman, ESCA, NMR and ESR facilities. Improving test procedures and ensuring that these are executed correctly. Design and perform nonstandard tests to meet special space project requirements as well as develop in situ analysis techniques. Traceability of test exposure conditions and follows the effect of the exposure on samples. Recording sample properties or condition during and after test, accurately and legibly. Checking on test equipment performance and reporting any anomalies or faults. Producing clear and professional reports in English as specified for the task. Supporting the inclusion of results in internal databases. Maintenance of the relevant test equipment. The Contractor shall ensure that the equipment under his responsibility is kept in an operational state and shall ensure that all necessary routine calibration and maintenance activities are carried out. To successfully perform the above mentioned tasks, the following background experience is required Able to read mechanical drawings Electrical basic knowledge Mechanical basic knowledge Knowledge in vacuum technology would be an asset Technician level in Materials Technology with demonstrated laboratory work experience. Materials science with a good working knowledge of materials process technology, a good understanding of physics and minimal two years of practical experience in a controlled test environment. A good understanding of metallography, optical microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy and mechanical testing is a specific asset The holder of the post shall speakwrite English with a technical working level, with several years of experience in material physical and chemical laboratory investigations. A vacancy for an Avionics Functional Validation Technician mf has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Toulouse. You will join the FV Infrastructure Execution department. The Central Engineering technical unit for Functional and Electrical CheckOut comprises departments in the UK, France and Germany. The function of the technical unit is to provide a central competence that meets the evolving needs of the business, working on satellite platforms, payloads and equipment. The department is responsible for the resourcing and technical management of the Functional Validation FV aspects of Telecommunication and Earth Observation, Navigation and Science ENS satellite projects. It relates to all activities that have been set up to verify and validate a system from a functional point of view. More specifically, this means integrating avionics equipment, test engineering, writingchecking procedures, producing test procedures, investigating anomalies, analysing test results and delivering test reports. The candidate needs to understand and handle the avionics tests set up with real hardware equipment andor simulators. The FV activity is based on a consistent use of simulation models and facilities, databases and procedures throughout all project phases, so as to achieve a consistent process for harmonised development and validation of satellite hardware and software, checkout software and checkout equipment. Process improvement initiatives are being constantly performed to make the FV more efficient and consistent across the various projects. As the successful candidate, you will initially join one of the projects as part of the Functional Verification team and, after an initial period of training, will be participating in the preparation, implementation and execution of functional tests on simulated and realtime test benches. Tests will cover the following subsystems Attitude and Orbit Control AOCS, Data Handling System DHS, Power, Payload, Failure Detection and Incident Recovery FDIR and System Control. The role will also involve working on support activities, for instance anomaly resolution and management, configuration control, and process improvement. Within this context and under the responsibility of the Avionics Functional Validation Engineer, your main tasks and responsibilities will include Establishing the necessary and sufficient configuration to perform the functional validation task. Validating the functional chains through endtoend openloop tests AOCS, DHS, etc. Validating the nominal and reconfiguration functions of the subassembly through closedloop tests Developing and debugging Automated Test Procedures ATP and scripts, in the dedicated language, working within a specified process and using templates and FV tools against a test specification. This will include liaising with the various project architects and domain specialists. Executing the ATPs on the various test benches together with test data analysis and test report compilation. This will include liaising with specialist areas for result data analyses, technical management and Product Assurance PA. Investigating anomalies and producing diagnoses determining root causes equipment, environment model, software flight, test bed, data bases, procedures, and test specifications. Producing test reports. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Bachelor degree, 3 years of experience in systemssubsystemsequipment validation and tests ideally within the space industry, Good knowledge of generic HWSW test environments test bench, test equipment, CCS, etc., Knowledge of all or part of o testing openclosedloop systems, o development, debugging and execution of test scripts, o system engineering lifecycle, o software programming and scripting languages C, Java, o Unix Linux administration, script development, etc., o embedded systems and spacecraft systems AOCS, DHS, subsystems electrical, thermal, RF, etc., Rigorous ability to independently analyse understand complex problems, Good communication skills, Good organisation and presentation skills, Ability to work in a multidisciplinary international team, Resultsoriented and autonomous, Proactive approach, Advanced level of French and intermediate level of English.
