Roy P. Trowbridge, chairman of ANSI Board from 1971–1974, passed away on Jan 17, 2016, at age 97. Mr. Trowbridge was a member of the Board of Trustees at ASME Foundation, and former director of engineering standards at GM Corporation. In 1969, Standards Engineering Society, now known as SES - The Society for Standards Professionals, presented Leo B. Moore Award to Mr. Trowbridge for his eminent service and leadership in standardization and his advocacy of international cooperation in the field.

ANSI approves 4 Better Buildings Workforce schemes.

In 2015, Commercial Workforce Credentialing Council of NIBS released 4 Better Buildings Workforce job task analyses and credentialing schemes for: building commissioning professional, building energy auditor, building operations professional, and energy manager. CWCC subsequently submitted them to ANSI for review to determine if schemes were developed based on clause 8 of ISO/IEC 17024:2012, Conformity assessment - General requirements for bodies operating certification of persons.

Jamila Thompson, legislative director for Congressman John Lewis of Georgia, served as keynote speaker for ANSI Caucus event held at the National Press Club. Ms. Thompson spoke about importance of standards in international trade and the growing interest by Congressman Lewis in looking to standards to help craft practicable solutions to global problems. She also highlighted work underway within ISO on anti-bribery – ISO 37001 currently under development by ISO project committee (PC) 278.
