ANSI, Gold Standard Collaborate to enhance auditing process.

ANSI and Gold Standard are working to develop new accreditation scheme that will extend list of auditors eligible to review Gold Standard energy projects while improving audit quality through better oversight. Historically, only designated operational entities (DOE) registered under United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) were eligible to act as auditors. New scheme also opens the doors to ANSI Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Validation and Verification Bodies (VVBs).

ANSI International Policy Senior Director announces retirement.

Charles T. Zegers, senior director of international policy for American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and general secretary for United States National Committee of the International Electrotechincal Commission (USNC/IEC), announced his retirement effective at end of 2015. Zegers worked with ANSI for 35+ years and initially joined in May 1980 as director of standards audit, accreditation, and review. In January 2009, Zegers assumed his current position as senior director.

ANSI Board Names Volunteer Leaders for new term.

ANSI Board of Directors announced new members and officers for term beginning January 1, 2016. Kevan Lawlor will serve second term as chair of the board, and Arthur Cote will continue as immediate past chairman. Vice chairs will include GP Russ Chaney, Mary McKiel, Mary Saunders, and Paris Stavrianidis. There were 11 individuals elected to Board as directors-at-large, 4 director-at-large vacancies were filled, and 4 board members who will serve as ANSI Member Forum chairs were named.

ANSI seeks comments on ISO field of activity.

ISO has submitted proposal for new field of activity on foundry machinery. Submitted by Standardization Administration of China, work item proposal details that standardization of foundry machinery is to include terminology, classification, specifications, test methods, and quality requirements of sand preparation, molding, core-making, die-casting, casting cleaning, and grinding equipment. ANSI invites all interested stakeholders to submit comments on proposal by Jan 15, 2016.

During Army University’s first educational symposium, academic and military educators shared best practices on innovative and collaborative ways to improve educational experiences for soldiers preparing to join various industry ranks. Over 200 attended the event, which included a session on Adopting Nationally Recognized Standards, co-presented by Vijay Krishna, Ed.D., director of personnel credentialing programs at ANSI and Lisa Lutz, ANSI Personnel Certification Accreditation Committee member.
