NEMA announced that ANSI Accredited Standards Committee C136 published ANSI C136.38-2015 American National Standard for Roadway and Area Lighting Equipment—Induction Lighting. Standard defines electrical and mechanical requirements of induction type light sources for use in roadway and area lighting luminaires. Originally developed in 2009, this standard was revised to reflect current industry practices and provide additional clarification.

ANSI partnered with the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves to organize Standards Alliance training in Accra, Ghana. Global Alliance's goal is to save lives, improve livelihoods, empower women, and protect the environment. Led by ANSI, 1-day training focused on ISO National Mirror Committees. Topics covered include stakeholder outreach and engagement, fundamentals of setting up an NMC, strategies for running and strengthening an NMC, consensus-building, as well as ISO structure and process.

USTDA awards ANSI contract to implement U.S.-China SCCP.

U.S. Trade and Development Agency awarded ANSI a contract to implement Phase IV of the U.S.-China Standards and Conformance Cooperation Program. Each phase calls for organization of 20 workshops, mostly in China, over 3-year period that cover wide range of sectors and issues related to standards and conformity assessment. Award reflects ANSI’s record of organizing workshops on relevant issues with strong attendance and tangible benefits for U.S.-China commercial relations.

Manyphay Viengkham, who represented U.S. National Committee (USNC) of IEC on SEG-1, will appear as featured speaker. Participation is open to individuals who have joined ANSSC.
