Mission Control Operations Engineering Support 1313063 Job Description The selected engineer will provide support to the development and operation of the MSG Ground Segment and the EPS Overall Ground System. Main duties are the operation of the MSG Central Facility and the EPS Mission Control System, and supporting operational use of Mission Control Facility Tools and the mission controlrelated multimission tools. The role comprises a range of tasks including the provision of support to the routine operation of the MCS, and the interfaces between the MCS and other components of the EPS Core Ground Segment. The selected engineer will be responsible for the definition andor maintenance of the routine operations procedures related to the operation of the MCS and these interfaces, in accordance with the established configuration management and quality assurance practices. In addition, the engineer will acquire and maintain a Systemwide view of the MSG System, and the EPS CGS and OGS, particularly in the areas of system monitoring control and data flows, due to the central role the CF and MCS play in the MSG and EPS Systems. The engineer will review any planned changes to the system configuration and support in the investigation of anomalies encountered through the routine operations. As part of a team of MCS engineers, the engineer will also provide oncall support. Furthermore, support to the development and operations preparation for recurrent satellites in existing operational programs, and for future operational programs now in development will be required. Unix System Engineering Support 1313066 Job Description As a member of the Computer Systems Management team, the key person shall provide support to Ground Segment Commissioning and Routine Operations. The duties range from the support to the operation of the UNIXbased ground segment facilities, to the analysis, design, development, testing and maintenance of distributed hardware and system software platforms. This includes the settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures, the support to the procurement of hardware and software, and the coordination with external providers of maintenance services. The key person shall perform the following tasks installation and configuration of operating system and other software, tuning of operating systems parameters to optimize performance analysis, planning and performance of HW and SW upgrades or reconfigurations, taking care of compatibility issues between subsystems monitoring of the system performance, investigation into HW and system SW problems and performance of the relevant corrective actions ensuring that in case of HW or system SW failures the operational configuration can be restored, including the definition, maintenance, performance of backup procedures liaison with the external providers of HW and system SW maintenance for the request and follow up of maintenance interventions administration of user accounts support to SW development and maintenance in relation to the utilization of system resources implementation and maintenance of scripts andor procedures where applicable for the automated andor controlled execution of the above activities, generation or update of technical documentation in relation to system upgrades provision of standbyoncall support provision of support, as required, to critical operations. As an essential part of the tasks above, the key person is expected to generate and maintain documentation. This may comprise writing and reviewing requirement and design specifications, change proposals, preparing documents supporting procurements, reviewing data packages belonging to technical inspections and reviews, writing and reviewing IT architecture and design, writing design evaluation reports, writingreviewing reports, test reports and overall status reports. In the performance of the activities the key person shall apply the relevant change control and maintenance procedures. The tasks assigned to the key person will be agreed through dedicated workpackages with clear identification of activities and outputs expected. In the performance of these tasks, the key person shall apply the EUMETSAT configuration and change control procedures as well as the relevant system engineering standards, quality management procedures and maintenance procedures. Required Skills and Experience University degree or equivalent in Computer Science or relevant discipline. At least 5 years experience of assessing and administrating computer systems and be very experienced in IT system design. The experience shall have been made in an operational or production environment, driven by high availability requirements. Instrument Data Processing Algorithms Software Engineering Support 1313067 Job Description The main task of the consultant will be the maintenance and further development of the operational MSG Image Processing Facility IMPF software, in particular, the algorithm and data processing aspects of the IMPF software.
