Spacecraft Embedded Hardware Engineer

This job is to design electronics systems and develop embedded hardware of spacecraft for ispace, inc. The job includes all phases of design, from defining system architecture, computer board design, specifying FPGA functions, implementation and hardware debugging, to supporting software and system integration. The ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge base including electrical board and FPGA design. Prior experience in making high reliability electronics and controlling vendors manufacturing is required. Experience as a fullFPGA developer is also required. Spacecraft Systems Engineer

ispace Japan is seeking a highly motivated and talented Systems Engineer to join its team developing its first 2 spacecraft M1, a lunar orbiter, and M2, A lunar lander. The ideal candidate will have broad experience in the system engineering process of spacecraft and good technical knowledge of multiple spacecraft subsystems. This is a unique opportunity to join a truly fascinating project, the first stage of ispaces plans to perform resource prospecting on the moon. In this position, you will report to the Spacecraft Systems Engineering Lead, and join a small, international team of engineers working towards the detailed design and qualification of our first missions. Key Responsibilities Perform system level tradeoffs, coordinating inputs from various disciplines within the team, to evaluate any proposed changes of the design baseline. Support the System Engineering Lead by contributing to requirements management ensuring all requirements are closedout at the planned project landmarks Take ownership of the spacecraft mass budget, propellant budget, and power budget ensuring appropriate application of margins and continually identifying opportunities to save mass and power, and to achieve sufficient loading of propellant. Ensure internal interfaces between different subsystems are maintained as well as supporting the definition and control of interfaces with Payload customers Support AIT and subsystem leads in defining test plans and procedures which will successfully verify the spacecraft design. Lead efforts to resolve noncompliances identified during spacecraft AIT Contribute to risk assessments during the spacecraft development and support the Project Manager in defining risk mitigation plans Coordinate efforts between Ground Segment, GNC, Avionics, and Software in defining a spacecraft operational concept. Become book captain for key system level documents Basic Qualifications Bachelor or Masters degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent 5 years of experience of systems engineering within the space industry, ideally during the development phase and at spacecraft level Broad experience of several spacecraft subsystems Structure, Thermal, Avionics, GNC, Propulsion, Communications, Software Experience in defining requirements for spacecraft systems Familiarity with spacecraft design and test standards ECSS, MILSTD, or similar Selfmotivated and comfortable making key decisions within a fastpaced environment Excellent presentation skills, both verbally and written. Your Job The Spacecraft Controller is directly responsible to the Team Leader, Spacecraft Operations and is entrusted to monitor and control a number of spacecraft for the purpose of ensuring the safety of the assets providing the best performance to the customers and maximising the spacecraft lifetime. Heshe must be attentive to the operational status of the spacecraft and inquisitive regarding spacecraft data anomalies and be error free in actions concerning spacecraft commanding. Errors in either of the above areas can cause irreparable spacecraft damage and loss of corporate revenue through service outages. Heshe must therefore be sufficiently experienced and knowledgeable as a technologist to understand the functioning of the spacecraft and ground systems. In addition, maturity, reliability and tact are needed. During the majority of working hours heshe is without direct supervision being immediately available. Your Responsibilities Operate spacecraft in accordance with approved procedures and the daily operations plan. Strive to achieve and keep highest possible level of competency to perform all assigned duties and have the awareness to know when to escalate for assistance. Reliable and accurate execution of spacecraft operating procedures. Autonomous execution of manoeuvre burn plans. Continuously monitor spacecraft telemetry and alarm status. Respond to alarms or anomalous conditions by using good judgment, in particular by applying the process of analysing anomalous behaviours, identifying the cause, implementing and verifying the appropriate contingency procedure and if necessary by calling for additional support. Apply the principle of, TestasyouFly, FlyasyouTest in flight operations. Without hesitation, notify the AnalystEngineer, the appropriate SOC Team Leader or other oncall personnel of any event not covered in the plans or procedures. Originate spacecraft and equipment anomaly reports. Strive for accuracy in reporting the facts. Responsible for the operational configuration of the station TTC support path. Ensure that spacecraft telemetry and command capability is always available. Maintain the spacecraft operations logbook in concise and accurate manner. Perform special tests on behalf of engineering by approved procedure. Assist in the development of schedules, logs, forms, charts, graphs and other devices designed to provide thorough records of performance. Perform offline data analysis. Ensure that all displays for spacecraft operations are kept uptodate. Maximise transponder availability by effectively communicating operational problems to the Ground Operations and Network Operations personnel regarding spacecraft activities and performance. Operate ground station independently or in cooperation with responsible staff. Rotate shifts on 24hour duty, 7 days per week. Maintain a professional personal and workplace appearance. Maintain technical proficiency by periodically reviewing procedures and other spacecraft documentation. Execute procedures on the Dynamic Spacecraft Simulator. Attend regular training sessions in order to achieve and maintain an accreditation level to perform required functions. Rehearse on the simulator established nominal and contingency procedures. Perform other duties as required by Team Leader.
