Senior Network Engineer

It employs some 40,000 employees generating revenues of approximately 14 billion per year. A vacancy for a Senior Network Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence Space. This role can be based either in Stevenage or Hawthorn, Corsham. You will be part of the Systems Engineering team. This team is responsible for the provision of support to project delivery, installation of services across all Airbus Defence and Space owned sites and at customer sites as applicable, support for the provision of Network Management Systems and Fault Management System infrastructure implementation. You will provide service design and implementation advice to the support teams. You will typically engage at the preparation for CDR stage of the project. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Liaison with customer, SDA and project manager to capture all user and system requirements in order to define the service requirements specification. Create full system design extrapolating from PDR design documents, including the creation of system concept model if applicable and all relevant documentation. Implement test the service including provision of oversight for installation activities. Systems engineers are expected to support installation at any of our customers sites. As a result overseas travel is to be expected. Development and ownership of Design documentation required for CDR and FsDR, including detailed design document, dialling plans etc. Liaising with relevant Network Management Service teams to produce a suitable fault management solution, and or billing solutions as appropriate. Lead the VVT stage of the project coordinating support from other groups as necessary Provide support for the service transition into operations, from FsDR to Phase 6, ensuring that suitable handovers are provided to relevant operational staff. Supporting Incident Management escalations providing diagnosis and recommendations. Travel is expected to the Ground Station installations on a frequent basis. As part of the role there will also be a requirement to travel to customer installations overseas. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Engineering degree or IT degree with previous experience in the Telecoms or Satellite Communications industries. CCNPCCDP certification. Proven experience as Satcomms Systems Engineer, including Cryptos. Proven experience as Design Engineer Data and Voice Systems. Proven experience as Implementation Engineer including data, voice circuits and serial communications protocols. Experience in IP network design implementation at professional level. Must have demonstrable knowledge of, IP, VOIP and MPLS systems. Knowledge of satellite communications systems. Knowledge and use of encryption devices including DCAP, Mini Catapan and Ectocrypt. Knowledge of serial communication protocols. Knowledge of test methods for the above mentioned technologies. Good report writing and general communication skills. DEIMOS is selecting one senior engineer to be integrated in the GNCAOCS Competence Centre of the Flight Systems Business Unit, to support new growth areas in Image Processing. The work of the GNCAOCS Competence Centre is oriented to the design, development, specification and validation of GNC and AOCS systems. As a matter of reference, DEIMOS activities cover Satellite formation flying, rendezvous, and active debris removal ADR Entry, descent and landing on planets Earth, Mars natural satellites Moon Launch vehicles Planetary exploration and observation Approach to planets and asteroids Interplanetary Navigation Main Duties The following types of responsibilities are envisioned Development of onboard image processing IP chain concepts as part of the GNCAOCS subsystem making use of optical sensors camera, lidar, for aeronautical and aerospace vehicles e.g. UAV, satellite rendezvous, active debris removal, Earth observation, interplanetary navigation Design, implementation, specification and validation of IP solutions Development of IP design, analysis and simulation engineering tools Education Required A recognized engineering degree Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Electronic or a related degree e.g. Physics Desired Postgraduate studies M.Sc or Ph.D with a focus on aeronautical aerospace engineering and providing a solid background in at least two of the following Image processing techniques, covering the whole chain from acquisition to postprocessing Pattern recognition techniques Filtering and estimation techniques GNCAOCS principles Professional Experience Required Engineer with at least 4 year experience in the practical application of the domains relevant to the post relevant M.Sc PhD studies would also be considered The position will be tailored to the level of experience and additional industrial experience would be viewed very positively. The Thermal Engineering Group TEG provides expert thermal engineering for these projects and also manages a facility for production of Multilayer Insulation. We are seeking an experienced spacecraft thermal systems engineers to join our group. The successful candidate will have worked in the industry for a number of years, leading thermal design and analysis activities to develop and verify thermal control systems to meet project requirements. About the role You will have responsibility for thermal design, analysis and verification activities to develop thermal control system architectures to meet project requirements. This will include preparing thermal models, analysis by hand calculation and using software, managing thermal testing, correlationreduction of thermal models and writing project documentation. As the successful applicant you will undertake a full range of engineering activities within the environmental test skill area. Your primary role will be to configure, instrument and perform test operations on space equipment using Vibration and Shock testing facilities to meet customer quality test standards and requirements.
