Senior Software Engineer Mission Control System Support Sentinel3 mf Ref.Nr. 158521 The Mission Our customer, EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany, is preparing for the operations of the Copernicus Sentinel3 mission. The mission is to measure seasurface topography, sea and landsurface temperature and ocean and landsurface colour with highend accuracy and reliability in support of ocean forecasting systems, and for environmental and climate monitoring. The first of two Sentinel3 spacecraft is planned to be launched in mid2015. The Challenge We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer for Mission Control System Support, to be located at the customers site, EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany. The main area of responsibility of this position is for supporting to the evolution and maintenance of the Sentinel3 Mission Control System. The Sentinel3 Mission Control System is built from MICONYS software components such as SCOS2000, FARC, PARC and NIS. The tasks to be undertaken typically include Maintenance and Evolution Activities Reengineering activities analysis of the porting of some subsystems to stateofthe art technologies, tradeoff studies of various technologies, software design of the technical solutions, following the procurement of the changes with external contractors and verification testing of the changes Evolutions and changes generation andor analysis of userdriven and maintenancedriven software requirements, software design of the technical solutions, following the procurement of the changes with external contractors and verification testing of the changes Preventive and corrective maintenance including the investigation and correction or following the corrections implemented by external contractors of anomalies in the software facilities and verification testing of the fixes Maintenance test procedures generation and updates of maintenance test procedures at software facility level and at system level Support and development of the verification infrastructure development andor procurement of scripts I tools to perform installation checks, nonregression, functional and performance testing. Analysis and implementation of mechanisms or tools allowing the automatic or semiautomatic verification testing of the application software Coordination of the production of new software releases or patches delivery acceptance and installation onsite. This activity includes the technical coordination of the production by an external contractor of new releases or patches of the application software, liaison with the EUMETSAT operational users, participation to technical reviews, participation to infactory at contractor premises acceptance testing campaigns and coordination of the installation of the releases or patches onsite at EUMETSAT Execution and coordination of software verification and nonregression testing campaigns. This activity includes preparation of test data, running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports, and analysis of results and troubleshooting of problems User Support Software support software support to the endusers of the application software. Ensure operations continuity by provision of oncall services and software support to operations. Training prepare and provide training covering usage and maintenance aspects of the application software Technical Management Documentation generation and updates of technical documents Meeting participation participation to technical, progress and team meetings as needed and requested Routine reporting preparation and production of routine reports as necessary Technical point of contact for maintenance contractors acting as point of contact with the contractor for technical discussions, review of technical documentation from the contractor, organizing periodical technical meetings with the contractor This is a fulltime position with a planned starting date in May 2015. Interviews at the customer site for the position are planned between 9th and 20th March. Your Qualifications In addition to having a University degree in a relevant engineering discipline, you are needed to have skills and experience in software maintenance, evolution and testing with the following areas Domain Skills Extensive experience minimum 5 years in software maintenance and evolution of Satellite Mission Control Systems based on MICONYS software suite from ESAESOC. In particular experience in all the following MICONYS components is considered mandatory SCOS2000, SLE API, FARC, PARC and NIS Knowledge and understanding with actual working experience of space related standards ECSS and CCSDS concerning spacetoground interfaces and applicable to Satellite Mission Control Systems such as ECSS Packet Utilisation Standard PUS, CCSDS Space Packet Protocol SPP and CCSDS Space Link Extension Protocol SLE Software Development Maintenance Skills Extensive experience minimum 5 years in the full cycle of development of application software, preferably for Satellite Mission Control Systems, following formal software engineering processes. This includes user and system requirement analysis, software requirement engineering, software design and implementation reflecting maintenance activities as well as new applications definition Experience minimum 3 years in corrective maintenance, integration and verification testing activities of application software for Satellite Mission Control Systems following formal software engineering processes. This includes requirement verification, generation of test plan and test procedures, nonregression testing, generation of test data, generation of test tools, running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports and anomaly tracking, investigation, correction and testing Experience in being the technical point of contact for contractors working at offsite premises and responsible for application software evolution and maintenance Software Engineering Skills Extensive experience minimum 5 years in developing and maintaining software applications using Java and C programming languages under UNIX operating systems Experience minimum 3 years in developing and maintaining software applications using objectoriented technologies, Unified Modelling Language UML for software design and CASE design tools It would be a distinct advantage to have knowledge andor experience with some of the following Domain Skills Experience with the following list of MICONYS components DABYS, EDDS, GFTS, MATIS, SFT and SMF Experience with Mission Control Systems for LEO spacecraft Knowledge of Flight Dynamics Systems Knowledge of Mission Planning Systems Experience with Satellite Simulators Experience with software support to operations for Satellite Mission Control Systems Software Technology Skills IBM DOORS requirement management tool Experience in version Control Systems CVS and SVN Linux Operating System Experience in developing and maintaining software applications using ODBCJDBC bridges and programmatic interfaces to MySQL RDBMS Data model design for RDBMS Administration of MySQL RDBMS Interprocess communication mechanisms, in particular TCPIP and CORBA standards XML processing schema design, validation, parser libraries, transformation XSL T and XPath Eclipse Rich Client Platform applications development and maintenance Experience using tools for the automation of software testing Experience with static and dynamic software analysis tools in support to testing and troubleshooting In addition to the technical skills and experience, you will also be assessed for the following skills and qualities Working proactively with the minimum of supervision in an individual or team environment Conducting activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, working calmly and correctly under stress Working in teams and sharing expertise and experience with other team members Able to commit to the plan and deliver the expected results on time or to report proactively if any deviations are foreseen Take ownership of problems through to effective resolution Possess excellent verbal and written communications skills and be confident to deal with a wide variety of people Fluency with reading, writing and speaking English Terma offers At Terma, we consider skilled employees, enthusiasm and job satisfaction as the very foundation of our success and as a prerequisite for the development of the bestinclass solutions that Terma provides.
