For our customer, ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking an experienced Spacecraft Operations Engineer SOE to support their mission operations. The areas of responsibility stretch from operations supervision and mission planning, to assuming the responsibility and performing activities for specific spacecraft subsystems or systems within the scope of operations engineering, including testing, validation and operation of the Mission Control System, Mission Planning System and Simulator. You will be primarily assigned to the Heliophysics Missions Operations Unit OPSOPS at ESOC, which includes the Cluster II and Solar Orbiter missions, with the possibility of supporting other missions within the division. Responsibilities The general activities to be supported depending on the mission are Operations supervision Spacecraft and ground operations systems anomaly handling Mission planning Operations tools, spacecraft database and FOP maintenance Validation and deployment of ground systems updates Management and coordination of internal mission interfaces Spacecraft performance analysis and peporting Operations phase execution eclipses, flyby, remote sensing windows, etc. Onboard software maintenance support This is a fulltime position to be located at ESOCs premises in Darmstadt with the planned start date on 1st April 2021. Qualifications Competencies In addition to having a university degree in a relevant engineering field, astronomy, mathematics or physics, you should be able to cover many of the following topics Essential skills are Spacecraft system and subsystem knowledge AOCS, Data Handling, OBSM Power Thermal, TTC, Payload Experience in spacecraft operations Excellent coordination and interaction skills with other service providers in operations and other fields. Desirable skills include Experience in programming in Python and software engineering practices and technologies such as SQLNoSQL DB, Angular, Django, Docker, GITLAB, webservices, etc. Experience in the generation of nominal and contingency procedures Familiarity with satellite control systems, in particular SCOS2000 Familiarity with Onboard software and OBCP development Familiarity with operational simulators, especially the ones based on SimSat Familiarity with deep space missions Familiarity with MOIS The ability to multitask efficiently working on multiple activities, multiple subsystems and if applicable multiple missions simultaneously.
