Software Engineer SDSSAJOBEOS103 Tasks and Responsibilities The successful candidate will join the Earth Observation Systems EOS Team, whose activities cover the complete lifecycle of complex software systems combining technologies belonging to the Earth Observation EO, the Geographic Information Systems GIS, and the Knowledge Management KM domains. The team projects typically involve international partners. The main assignment in the Earth Observation Systems Team is to contribute to the design and development of a semanticallyenabled distributed application that allows for searching for EO products and navigating in Linked Open Data LOD in a seamless manner. The client interface will run on mobile devices and implement state of the art user interaction techniques. The tasks will also include the participation to the production of the project documentation. The work will be performed in our offices in Zaventem Brussels and may require short international travels for meeting project stakeholders. Qualifications and Experience The candidate should have a university degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline Computer Sciences, Software Engineering, etc. The following skills are mandatory for the position 2 to 5 years of experience in design and development of Javabased Web user interfaces and services e.g. Web Services, OpenSearch, REST. Experience with the software development lifecycle, and with writing highquality software project documentation in English. Good knowledge of Linux, and be comfortable with TCPIP network administration troubleshooting. Knowledge andor experience in one or more of the following is required OGC Standards CSW, WMS, WFS, GML, KML, EOP, CIM, etc., ISO Geographic Information standards, OASIS ebRIM standard, GIS related techniques and tools. Conceptual descriptions and modeling e.g. RDF, RDFS, OWL, RIF, SKOS, SPARQL, LOD. Knowledge Management techniques and tools e.g. NLP, WSD, GATE, Lucene, OpenNLP. Android programming in Java, Android SDK, and Eclipse Android Developer Tools ADT.
