Objective The engineer will support the smooth running of the operational EO data processor and the validation of new systems when needed. In addition he she will be required to analyse the output data on a both a routine basis and during special test validation periods. Responsibilities Duties The engineer will support the existing team in the following tasks Support to the maintenance of the operational system, including liaison with ESA and the software developers. The preparation and execution of the EO data processor validations Conducting anomaly investigations Routine operations and data Quality control checks Monitoring and analysis of sensor performance The development of ad hoc scripts for data analysis. Qualifications Experience The engineer should have a degree or equivalent in a relevant subject Experience of complex software systems Experience of Earth Observation data processing systems Experience of extracting and analysing senor performance data Some previous experience in software validation Preparation of validation plan and their execution. Also, knowledge with the involved documents requirements, validation plans and reports Essential Skills Knowledge of near real time data processing systems Knowledge of satellite data formats Fluent English language skills spoken and written Familiar with Quality Control documentation ICDs, Configuration Control, Reporting... Experienced with the Linux environment Desirable Skills Knowledge of IDL Knowledge of the SMOS mission DPGS, processors...
