Summary An exciting opportunity for a MSc educatedexperienced onboard computer and data systems engineer to work for Telespazio VEGA onsite at ESTEC. Objective To provide full time dedicated support to the ExoMars Project Division, Science and Robotic Exploration Projects Department. Responsibilities Duties The major tasks of the Digital Electronics Systems Engineer in the ExoMars Project Division, Science and Robotic Exploration Projects Department, will be the following Supporting the RF and Avionics Lead Systems Engineer to establish the Digital Electronics Systems architecture and external interfaces Establishing the requirements of the Digital Electronics Systems and reviewing design to meet the ExoMars requirements Supporting project procurement activities and monitoring industrial implementation of procurements Ensuring, in close cooperation with other Engineers in the project, that theinterfaces of the Digital Electronics systems are properly documented and controlled In cooperation with the RF and Avionics Lead Systems Engineer, monitoring and controlling of Digital Electronics Systems and subsystem level designs and analyses to meet the agreed programmatic and scientific objectives in coordination with other members of the ExoMars project Ensuring that the Digital Electronics Systems meet the constraints imposed by the resource budget allocations of mass, volume, power, data and other accommodations aspects Monitoring and controlling the progress of the industrial contractors and evaluating the technical work associated with the design and development process of the Digital Electronics Systems Develop and maintain, in close cooperation with the ExoMars Payload and AIV Manager, the verification of the design and flight hardwaresoftware of the Digital Electronics Systems In cooperation with the ExoMars Product Assurance and Safety Office, ensuring that proper Product Assurance practices are applied during the manufacturing, test and integration phases Participating in, and providing support to other areas of the Project where experience can be applied Qualifications Experience Applicants for this post should have a MSc or equivalent qualification in electronics, computer science, telecommunications or a related field Experience in the field of onboard computer and data handling systems A good background in the design, simulation, manufacturing and testing of spacecraft platform equipment, modules, boards and components is also required Knowledge and experience of the VHDLVerilog design languages as well as the design and development of FPGA and ASIC for space applications is appreciated Candidates should also be familiar with space applications of computers and data handling and communication systems, and have knowledge of space environment, related ECSS and CCSDS engineering standards and space quality requirements Essential Skills Applicants should have good interpersonal and communication skills withthe ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment and to define andimplement solutions in line with team objectives In addition, candidates should have good organisational and analytical skills Qualities Proactive attitude towards solving problems and an interest in innovative technologies Further Details All roles within Telespazio VEGA have a defined closing date, however if a successful candidate is found before the advert expires the role will be closed early. Building on our expertise in human spaceflight we are seeking several staff to join our team to participate in the development of the Dream Chaser spacecraft in Denver, Colorado. We require staff for the following position Flight Systems Software Engineer mf AESFSW201401 Tasks and Responsibilities We have two positions, one as team lead and the other as team member. The work is to be performed in Denver, Colorado as part of a team developing the cockpit of the Dream Chaser spacecraft. The tasks to be performed include Cockpit concept definition and early prototyping Participation, with a multidisciplinary team, in conceptual definition and design of the cockpit displays and controls as well as the vehicles concept of operations. Rapid prototyping and evaluation of the displays and control concepts. Iteratively reaching a displays and controls baseline to be used for developing the flight system. Cockpit flight software development Responsibility for specification, design and implementation of displays and controls and specific cockpit flight software. Test, verification and support to qualification of the cockpit system. Qualifications and Experience Applicants should have a University degree in a relevant discipline and several years of experience in cockpit, spacecraftaircraft systems, software development and human factors. Furthermore, candidates are required to have following skills Solid background in system and software engineering with knowledge of modelling tools and engineering best practices. At least three years experience with CC and real time operating systems. A good knowledge of aerospace standards ECSS, DO178B... would be an asset. Experience of human centred design would be an advantage as would experience in cockpit design and development. Creative team player with the ability to cope with pressure. Fluent in English, good organization skills, good communication skills, high level of flexibility. The position will be located in Denver, Colorado with some travel, primarily within the United States. Expected start date immediate.
