For our activities in ESOC, we are currently looking for a Galileo Space Operations System Engineer. Tasks and Responsibilities Tasks will include the following support the evaluation and execution of all operations activities executed by the Galileo Operations Contractor, ensuring the preparation and execution of operations and plans participate to the spacecraft anomaly review boards, supporting the evaluation of any recovery action required support the interfacing to the Galileo Space Segment for the deployment of new OBSW versions and the procurement of new spacecraft batches define the System Level Operational concepts for the Galileo Second Generation for the infrastructure and associated External Interfaces with External Entities for the different project phases and related system builds collaborate in coordinating the interaction between the operations team and the G2G system design team ensuring the coherency of the system design with the Galileo Second Generation Operations Concepts define the operation requirements applicable to the design, development and validation of the system operations for the Galileo Second Generation, ensuring coherency with the deployment of new System Builds interface with ESA specialists regarding technical matters, including spacecraft and segment design and operations documentation maintain and upgrade all the G2G Operations project documentation, including MOCD, OSRD and Operational documents participate on Galileo G2G related reviews panels, evaluations boards as required. Requirements The key person shall have a university degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline the experience shall include in particular Significant experience in position for operations engineering, operations preparation and execution, with some experience in management tasks A proven experience in in a commercialindustrial environment is required Experience related to developments in the Galileo project GIOVE, IOV, FOC will be considered an asset Familiar with Spacecraft and Ground Segment subsystem knowledge Fluency in English, both in speech and writing Able to carry on activities and interact in a complex teamwork environment Able to work independently Experience with management tasks Familiarity with the ESTEC environment Some experience dealing with external interfaces The ability to multitask efficiently working on multiple activities Perfect command of English, verbal and written. In view of the complex interaction with numerous entities, candidates should have good communication skills and the capability to work in a complex environment with complex task. Tasks and Responsibilities The System Engineer is during the development process closely involved in all technical aspects and issues that occur with the realization of a design. The System Engineer ensures the timely and complete availability of all relevant technical information, distributes tasks and technical information to the organization to achieve this goal. Perform analysis and system design tasks Creating documents for the data packages for the different design reviews EQSR, PDR, CDR Managing the development schedule and associated budget Delivering input to Product Assurance for creating the Verification Control Document Creating test procedures Test coordination with the Test Department Giving support to Production and Test phases in the project The System Engineer is the contact person towards the customer during the project, when it comes to technical related questions. JOB DESCRIPTION Responsibilities Duties Tasks The area of responsibility for this service is for Data Systems Operations Engineering, covering the areas of the following two Mission Data Systems MDS Sentinels Mission Control Systems Engineering support Sentinels Simulators Engineering support Initially this service will be fully dedicated the Sentinels MCS Engineering support, however it should not be excluded that at a later stage tasks related to the Sentinels Simulators Engineering support may be included. For both of these Mission data systems, the service includes Specification of the software requirements of these systems in collaboration with the operational users Acceptance of the deliverables received from industry, ensuring correctness, completeness and compliance to the applicable requirements Support to the mission operations staff as required in the various operational phases, including System Validation Tests, simulation campaign and in software support coordination as part of the Flight Control Team during critical operational phases such as launches Coordination with other internal ESOC or external units, e.g. with the unit supplying mission data systems infrastructure and with the unit supplying the ICT systems and services Participation in research and development activities in the area of mission data systems. Participate in the testing and validation of the various infrastructure elements used by the Sentinels MDS as well as definition of the future evolution of these systems. Collaboration with other missions to ensure crossmission consistency and harmonization between Sentinel and other missions MDS systems, spinin from other missions into the Sentinel MDS and spinout from the Sentinel system to future systems including, but not limited to, future Sentinel missions. Qualifications Aerospace Engineer or any related discipline. Required knowledge Good knowledge of Mission Control Systems for Earth Observation satellites and the EO MCS Kernel. Experience as Software Coordinator for Earth Observation Missions including prelaunch activities and launch campaigns of satellites. Familiarity with MICONYS and in particular extensive knowledge in the operational deployment of external systems EDDS, GFTS, DARC Ability to understand and accurately predict behaviour of complex systems Service provision in English Wellorganised, able to prioritise and manage several activities in parallel Familiarity with programmingscripting languages e.g. C, Java, JavaScript, shell scripting Capability to interact with users in customer oriented manner.
