DUTIES The postholder will be integrated in the project system engineering team of an inorbit demonstration mission. These missions include development and procurement under ESA contract of a spacecraft, including payload and ground segment, and launch procurement. The initial assignment will be to the Proba3 Project which is for in orbit demonstration of formation flying under the General Support Technology Programme GSTP. In particular, responsibilities will include analysing, defining and specifying mission concepts covering all segments platform, payload, ground through internal and industrial studies implementing and managing technology development contracts related to inorbit demonstration preparing as required the technical package of the mission invitation to tender providing system engineering support to the spacecraft platform payload and ground segment for all project phases supporting LEOP implementation and management and technical activities related to commissioning ensuring consistency between the technology development and demonstration objectives, monitoring the specific technology development activities and exploiting the results contributing to the dissemination of the results of activities performed and knowledge transfer across the Agency. Proba3 being in Phase CD, tasks 4,5,6 are the most relevant for the initial assignment. The postholder will be part of a technical team, supported by specialists and will therefore work in close cooperation with Directorate engineers, project engineers and external experts. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in engineering. Solid experience in the space field, including a substantial background in spacecraft system or subsystem engineering and projects, is required. Knowledge of small spacecraft, technology demonstration projects along with industrial experience would be an asset. Candidates should have good interpersonal and communication skills. They should be able to work effectively, autonomously, effectively and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment, defining and implementing solutions in line with team and individual objectives and project deadlines. They should also have good analytical, organisational and reporting skills, a proactive attitude to problemsolving and an interest in innovative technologies. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these languages is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset. Telecom System Support Engineer to Frequency Coordination mf

The successful applicant will join the Telecom Systems department and will be in charge of providing support to the Telecommunication Satellite Projects and to the Regulatory Team in the domain of frequency coordination. The mission will be to develop the expertise and required tools for performing system analysis and assessing the performances of telecommunication satellite systems, taking into account interferences tofrom other satellite and terrestrial systems. Your Tasks Include As a member of RSO, the Copernicus S3 System and Services Operations Engineer SSyOE shall provide support to the operation of the S3 Ground System, as well as its evolution. Main duties within the S3 programme will include the support to System operations in a realtime operations environment Endtoend operations monitoring Operational interfaces within the ground segment, and to external partners, including maintenance of operational documentation JORP, OICDs, procedures etc. Communications systems operations Security operations Infrastructure operations and evolution Multimission operations, including mass storage and archiving System Evolutions Manual and Automated system and satellite operations including planning and scheduling. The role comprises a range of tasks including the provision of support to the routine operation of the S3 ground segment, as well as its evolution to include new functionality and system operations. The SSyOE will be responsible for the definition andor maintenance of the routine operations procedures pertaining to system operations and the interfaces of the key systems within the ground segment, in accordance with the established Client Operations Department configuration management and quality assurance practices. The SSyOE will acquire and maintain a Systemwide view of the Client ground segments, wherever this could impact the S3 ground segment. The SSyOE will review any planned changes to the system configurations for the S3 ground segments, and support the investigation of anomalies encountered through the routine system and ground segment operations. The SSyOE will provide support to the operations preparation for recurrent S3 satellites into the existing systems. The SSyOE will interface with project teams on the implementation of system upgrades to support major operations projects, including System MidTerm Evolution Plan, recurrent satellites, and any System hardware and operating system obsolescence upgrade, where this affects the S3 ground segment and system operations. The SSyOE will perform the following routine operations tasks Definition and maintenance of system operations procedures, including System and ground segment procedures and operations guides Definition and maintenance of JORPs and OICDs with external partners Liaison with the spacecraft operations team to ensure the continuity and optimization of spacecraft monitoring and control activities Liaison and coordination with the ground segment facility operations teams and system operations analysts to ensure the continuity and optimization o f ground segment and mission operations through procedure and operations guide updates, configuration changes, database or user interface changes etc. Interface and coordination with the systems maintenance teams and industry representatives to ensure optimized performance, including participating in the definition and implementation of any changes Provision of support to operational ground segment analyses Provision of standbyoncall support as system operations engineer, on an as needed basis. This will be coordinated through the normal oncall process Provision of support, as required, to critical operations Processing and coordination o f system anomalies, their documentation, investigation, classification and resolutionmitigation, including participation in Anomaly Review Boards Participation in technical meetings, formal reviews, and scheduling and planning meetings Processing and coordination of system modifications, including their documentation, approval, and implementation, including participation in Change Review Boards Support to, and participation in, the functional verification and operational validation of system upgrades and evolutions, both standalone and in the context of the overall S3 ground segment.
