Spacecraft Operations Engineer 1823010 Job Description We are looking for an Earth Observation Spacecraft Operations Engineer for our client ESOC. You will be assigned initially to preoperational Sentinels missions within the Earth Observation mission division i.e. not linked to Copernicus COP1 operational phases. The primary areas of responsibility will cover Spacecraft Platform Thermal, Power, TTC and Ground Operations engineering in support to the Earth Observation missions, in prevision of the upcoming preoperational activities to be performed with the current and future Sentinels and Earth Explorers missions. The general activities to be supported by this service are depending on the phase of the mission Satellite Operations Validation, test and operation of the MCS, including the Mission Planning System. Validation, test and operation of the Simulator Generation, validation and maintenance of the FOP in the volumes indicated by the TR initially platform PowerThermalTTC area, but also for other subsystems Support for FOS procurement, integration and tests Participation in System Validation Tests SVT, Ground Segment Validation GSV and Training and Simulations programme Review of satellite documents Participation to preoperational activities LEOP andor Commissioning operations as required Ground Operations Collection of information data regarding the performance of the mission and provision of inputs for mission reports. Support the FCT in the configuration, setup and operation of the Sentinels NDIU CORTEX and Lite. Support the FCT in the configuration, setup and operation of the Sentinels MUST and GFTS servers. Routine Mission plan generation supportchecking, as required Travel abroad may be necessary estimated at twice per year. Oncall service may be required at certain phases of the mission. Required Skills and Experience 12 years experience working in an operational environment with flight procedures life cycle, including validation. with Packet Utilisation Standard in ground tests preparation and execution, e.g. SVTs and GSVs with anomaly investigations at Ground Segment level with operational simulators, ideally SimSat with satellite control systems, ideally SCOS2000 with low Earth orbit satellites operations, ideally including experience in preparatory phase OPSPREP and special operations LEOP, simulations campaign, Commissioning Good experience with office automation tools, including MSEXCEL and MSACCESS Some programming experience, possibly with Visual Basic andor SQL Wellorganised, proactive, able to prioritise and manage several activities in parallel Capable of coordinate and interact with other service providers in operations and other fields. Main Responsibilities The primary areas of responsibility for the Key person covers Spacecraft Platform Thermal, Power, TTC and Ground Operations engineering responsibilities in support to the Earth Observation missions, in prevision of the upcoming preoperational activities to be performed with the current and future Sentinels and Earth Explorers missions. The Key person will be part of the Flight Control Team FCT, to participate in the preoperational phases, including special operations i.e. LEOP, Commissioning and in testing campaigns Simulations, SVT, inflight tests. The Key person may be requested to assume the responsibility and perform activities for additional subsystems or systems within the scope of general SOE services, including test, validation and operation of the Mission Control System, Mission Planning System and Simulator. Tasks Thanks to hisher seniority and consolidated relevant experience in the field, heshe will a play a crucial technical lead role in supporting operations preparation for different upcoming missions already contracted to SCISYS, like the German telecommunication mission Heinrich Hertz H2SAT, phases CDE1 and another ESA Science mission phases AB. Senior Engineer, Spacecraft Subsystem Payload Context The incumbent ensures six sigma satellite payload availability by providing highly specialized engineering expertise in payload in all phases of a satellite life cycle from satellite specification to build phase and operations. HeShe is responsible to ensure that satellite health and safety is maintained all along its life cycle.
