Spacecraft Operations Team Leader

Bringing together the resources of 30 member states, we observe the atmosphere, ocean, and land surfaces from space using a system of satellites 365 days a year. Our data is vital for weather forecasts that help to protect lives and property, as well as monitoring the environment and our changing climate. We want you to come and manage our team that runs the operations for our Meteosat Second Generation MSG space segment operations. You will use your operational knowledge and management skills to supervise our team which plans and manages the routine operations of our multisatellite Meteosat Second Generation space segment. Working with our partners, you will ensure that routine operations run to schedule and all anomalies are investigated and resolved. As Deputy to the Operations Manager, you will be involved in the strategic planning and review of our programme, along with contributing to future Meteosat programmes and introducing new services, as appropriate. With a university degree in a relevant discipline, your experience will include routine operations, operations preparation in a satellite development project, or spacecraft assembly integration and testing. With knowledge of systems related to satellite control facilities and simulators, you will use your understanding of system engineering standards relevant to space operational systems to enhance our programmes. You need to understand complex issues and be able to express ideas and issues clearly. Your focus will be on achieving successful outcomes and motivating your team. Ideal candidate In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the candidate must show some experience of spacecraft operations at an engineering level. Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the candidate to have experience with some of the following Geostationary satellite operations in general Routine spacecraft operations in general Operations preparation of a satellite project Operations andor design of the Mission Communications Payload MCP. Metop Spacecraft Operations Engineer

We are looking to further enhance our team by adding a Metop Spacecraft Operations Engineer You will be based initially for 2 years at our clients headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany. Your Tasks Include The Key person shall work in the Operations and User Services Department as a member of the Metop Spacecraft Operations Team. The key person shall be assigned and trained to provide operations expertise and support to one or more platform subsystems and or payload instruments, depending on his or her experience and the overall team needs. The key person shall also participate in coordinating the satellite operations activities of other team members and external teams responsible for onboard software management, simulator support, mission control, mission planning, flight dynamics and ground stations. Furthermore, the key person shall support system and operations preparation activities for MetopC, for Metop Second Generation satellites and possibly also for Sentinel3 and Jason CS. The key person shall be required to support operations during normal working hours, as well as support the oncall operations engineer rota, such that safe and efficient operations are ensured by the Spacecraft Operations Team on a 247 basis. The tasks of the Key person will typically include Support to the routine operations of Metop A, B and preparing for MetopC, comprising Provision of operational expertise to one or more platform subsystems andor payload instruments Maintain the corresponding operations documentation and flight procedures, including the update and operational validation of procedures releases in a configuration controlled environment Perform trending and performance analysis on the corresponding subsystems and instruments, including definition and possibly prototyping of additional analysis checks where necessary Investigations into satellite anomalies. Your Profile In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the Key person shall have a demonstrated experience in one or more of the following Spacecraft monitor and control operations Spacecraft operations preparation engineering Low Earth Orbit spacecraft design or Assembly Integration and Test activities at system or subsystem level. Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the Key person to have experience with some of the following Inorbit operations of Low Earth Orbit Earth Observation satellites Experience in the operation or development of satellite ground segment facilities, in particular procedure development, monitor and control, mission planning, onboard software management, performance analysis, configuration management and simulator facilities. Specification of system and operational concepts, facility requirements Familiarity with system change control and configuration management procedures. Data analysis software packages such as MATLAB. File parsing languages such as PERL, AWK. Use of VBA for development of adhoc tools in MS Office applications. The candidate should be selfmotivated and able to work in an organised and efficient manner with minimum supervision. Strong data analysis, processing and synthesis skills are essential and an ability to recognise opportunities for improvements in areas of work and implement appropriate solutions is highly desirable.
