ANSI Member SCTE announces addition of 2 new members.

ANSI member and accredited standards developer Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) announced 2 staff additions. Deighton Liverpool, former CIO of Association of Village Council Presidents in Alaska, was named SCTE's VP of information technology. As SCTE's new director of network and technical operations, Niem Dang will be based primarily in Louisville, CO as SCTE visiting engineer to CableLabs. Ms. Dang brings 10 years of experience with Comcast and Time Warner Cable.

ANSI Trip to Bejing focused on China standardization reform.

On his trip to Beijing, China from September 21–24, ANSI vice president of international policy Joseph Tretler met with Administrator Tian Shihong and other senior leadership at SAC, IGRS Alliance, and Beijing AQSIQ. Trip emphasized U.S.-China cooperation in ISO and afforded opportunities to network with ANSI members and partner organizations based in China. While abroad, ANSI engaged in discussions with SAC on rollout of standardization reform in China.

ANSI and the Standardization Administration of China held workshop in Beijing on U.S. and Chinese approaches to participation in the International Organization for Standardization. Both ANSI and SAC serve as their countries’ member bodies to the international organization. In recent years, China has significantly increased its participation in ISO. As a result, ANSI and SAC have strengthened their commitment to coordinating on technical proposals and policy positions where appropriate.
