ANSI announces dates for World Standards Week 2016.

ANSI has announced that World Standards Week 2016 will be held Oct 24–28 in Washington, DC. ANSI-hosted event is designed to inspire open dialogue about developments and challenges related to standardization and conformity assessment, highlighted in multiple keynote speaker sessions and conferences. ANSI’s Leadership and Awards ceremony will take place Wednesday, October 26, 2016 and U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day will be held on Thursday, October 27.

Michele Althoff, who serves as convenor of COPOLCO WG 15, will speak about revisions to ISO/IEC Guide 14, including how said document has evolved to better address accessibility needs, roles of Internet in purchasing decision, and evolution of technologies that support product information.

Featured speakers will be David Wollman, Ph.D., deputy director of the NIST Smart Grid and Cyber-Physical Systems Program Office, and Martin Burns, Ph.D., senior researcher in the NIST Engineering Laboratory. Following NIST's presentation, webinar participants will be afforded opportunity for Q&A and open information sharing.

Marking second year of ANSI's completion of its Standards Alliance public-private partnership with U.S. Agency for International Development, annual report highlights 2014–2015 activities and accomplishments. Standards Alliance, as funding facility, provides technical assistance to developing countries. Through activities carried out in year two, Standards Alliance achieved concrete and positive results. To boost involvement, ANSI calls for proposals for year three of Standards Alliance.
