Are you an experienced Spacecraft Operations Engineer SOE able to manage routine spacecraft operations whilst also supporting the preparation of operations for future geostationary satellites? EUMETSAT is the European satellite agency for monitoring weather and climate. Bringing together the resources of 30 Member States, we develop and operate a range of satellite systems surveying the atmosphere, ocean and climate that deliver information 24 hours a day. Our data is vital to weather forecasts that enable us to protect lives and property as well as monitoring the changing climate. EUMETSAT is now developing the next generation of satellite systems, shaping its longterm future. We are inviting applications from engineers with experience of the space sector and keen to work in a high availability, 247 operational environment. We have 2 roles that will provide suitable candidates the opportunity to support the preparation of operations of the future Meteosat Third Generation MTG satellites for the imaging mission MTGI satellites and the sounding mission MTGS satellites. In addition they will support routine operations of Meteosat Second Generation MSG and MTG satellites. Along with a university degree or equivalent in an aerospace or engineering discipline, you should be able to demonstrate the following significant professional experience in the field of satellite operations, preferably gained during the development or operation of a geostationary space system a clear understanding of the implications for future routine operations of decisions taken during the development phase excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to apply these to interactions within a team and between teams attention to detail and the ability to synthesise technical concepts in formal documents and verbal presentations excellent organisational and timemanagement capabilities including ability to work under stress and to meet tight deadlines an independent worker with the motivation to follow through a number of different tasks with minimum supervision and ensure their completion to a quality standard Previous experience in satellite ground segment operations preparation, satellite design, test validation activities and knowledge of satellite system design andor of satellite monitoring and control principles would be considered an advantage. Responsibilities Provide Electrical Thermal Power expertise to nominal and contingency operations of the satellites Support spacecraft operations and configuration changes, including generating or reviewing Operational Task Orders, configuration validation and direct supervision over critical spacecraft commanding Develop andor validate nominal and contingency procedures and tools Provide oncall support and react to contingencies for the Electrical Thermal and Power subsystems of the satellites per established escalation procedures Proactively monitor the Electrical ThermalPower subsystems to identify degraded performance, anticipate scenarios and take appropriate action.
