Spacecraft Controller Copernicus Sentinel1, Sentinel2 mf Ref.Nr. 158548.3 The Mission The Sentinel1 and Sentinel2 missions are part of Europes Copernicus Earth observation space program. The first in the series, Sentinel1, carries an advanced radar instrument to provide an allweather, dayandnight supply of imagery of Earths surface. The first of two spacecraft was launched in 2014. The second, Sentinel2, is a polarorbiting, multispectral highresolution imaging mission for land monitoring to provide, for example, imagery of vegetation, soil and water cover, inland waterways and coastal areas. Sentinel2 will also deliver information for emergency services. Sentine1 and Sentinel2 spacecraft will be operated from ESOC, in Darmstadt, Germany. The Challenge We are looking Spacecraft Controllers to be part of the flight control teams supporting Sentinel1 and Sentinel2 spacecraft operations. The tasks to be performed are those typical for a spacecraft controller, with the following specific responsibilities To operate all or part of the mission system, which may incorporate parts of the ground segment as well as the space segment, as specified for each mission. In preparatory phases or special operations LEOP, deorbiting the Spacon will be required to assist in configuring and testing the operational system to support the operations. The Spacon may be required to develop methods or tools to assist in the execution of the operations, for which heshe is required to become familiar with the mission and the control facilities at his disposal. The Spacon will take part in simulations and prelaunch test campaigns, and in postlaunch refresher training and simulation. During the operational phase, the Spacon will Monitor and control all operational progress, in accordance with the scheduled operations plan, ensuring that safety criteria are respected and that all operations are conducted in accordance with the established procedures Perform specific operations relating to individual missions, as defined in the operations plans, or as instructed by the responsible SOM, SOE or Analyst Immediately inform the responsible personnel when an anomaly is detected, in accordance with the established procedures Take corrective action as necessary, applying the contingency emergency procedures approved for the mission Coordinate with the responsible personnel for any scheduling required Prepare operations reports as requested Assist in the production of printouts, graphs and plots for offline evaluation and analysis Prepare and complete all necessary forms for the daily operations routine. During the operational phase of a mission, the Spacon will be expected to follow regular training and simulations for the inorbit spacecraft. This covers training to keep staff proficient, and training on new operational procedures. Training will be given by a Spacecraft Analyst and Operations Engineer. Regular use of a spacecraft simulator expected. These are full time positions, located at ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany, and starting in the second half of 2015. Working time is normal office hours. Your Qualifications This position requires a good background in a scientific or technical discipline, to the level equivalent to Senior Technician. Experience with using computer systems is required, and experience in data communication andor ground station systems is an advantage. Experience operating spacecraft or related ground systems is highly desirable. You shall be able to demonstrate an orderly, reliable and disciplined approach to the execution of operations and be capable of working calmly and correctly under stress. One of our clients is looking for a dynamic and motivated Space Propulsion Engineer to support the current development of their first Geostationary Telecoms spacecraft. Propulsion Engineers for this client are responsible for the design, manufacture, testing, launch preparation and inorbit commissioning of their propulsion systems. This holistic oversight is a rare opportunity for an Engineer who relishes variety and the combination of practical contact with hardware alongside analytical design work. In addition to delivering commercial programmes, exciting development activity underway at our client includes design of novel green propulsion systems, high power resistojet designs, additive layer manufacturing 3D printing and low cost electric propulsion system working with its partners in the UK. Detailed design and subsystem analysis to include Pressurant analysis, fluidic simulationsflow characterisation, LAE performance propellant static and dynamic residuals, onstation thruster performance, propellant gauging analysis and support to susbsystem thermal and plume impingement analysis. Assembly and testing of the propulsion systems. Support component system acceptance testing, defining pressure electrical test setups including the software interface via Labview or similar. Definition of thermal requirements Interface Control Documents. Design support for the Propulsion Controller requirements definition. Produce detailed mathematical modelling tools for the bipropellant subsystem validate by test. Plan and carry out development testing Flow characterisation, waterhammer, regulator testing. Produce the required subsystem analysis test reports Experience and Knowledge Skills Experience in design analysis of MMHMON bipropellant propulsion systems. Good all round knowledge of rocket propulsion systems, with an understanding of the functionality of thrusters, valves, regulators, etc. Good analytical skills with experience of mathematical modelling simulation software. A good understanding and handson experience of propulsion test GSE and test instrumentation, including set up programming. An appreciation of Electronics and Electrical Engineering. Writing detailed reports, and presenting at internal peer reviews and external customer reviews. Software Skills Competent in Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word PowerPoint Project Essential. LabVIEW, Matlab, Ansys, EcoSimPro Useful.

Requirements Applicants should have a solid technical background and a degree at least at BSc level MSc would be preferred in a related subject such as Aerospace Engineering, Telecommunications, Physics etc. The ideal candidate is a young graduate MSc in one of the above mentioned disciplines with very good academical career and a passion for satellite missions or space activities in general. Experience working with computer systems and PC literacy is required. DB knowledge would be useful. Candidates should be ordered, disciplined and have an efficient thinking mind as the appointed person should feel comfortable in a strictly proceduredriven working environment. Due to the operational nature of the job, candidates shall be able to work in a calm and correct manner under conditions of stress and in almost full autonomy e.g. during night shifts. As the successful candidate could be part of a small Ops Team working on a 247 shift rotation pattern, team spirit is also essential to adapt to the sometimes unavoidable shortterm changes to the shift plan resulting from sickness or other exceptional circumstance, with the purpose of avoiding any service disruption and ensuring the satellite health.
