This entry level position includes full training and support to enable the successful candidate to become a value added member of a satellite control team. Key Tasks and Responsibilities Your tasks will include but not be limited to Monitor and control a fleet of satellites on a 247 shift rota Generate periodic reports on spacecraft health and status for distribution to the Satellite Engineering team Perform routine control system maintenance and backup tasks Provide first line response to satellite contingency and escalation to the satellite engineering team Validate procedure and database updates using dynamic satellite simulators, and production of appropriate validation reports Participate in system verification tests and simulations campaigns in support of new satellite procurement Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience Bachelors degree or equivalent in a relevant technical discipline 6 months to 2 years experience in field of Satellite control or engineering Knowledge of satellite subsystems Fluency in English Experience in the preparation, validation and use of operational procedures would be an asset Understanding of the principles of geostationary satellite operation would be an asset Understanding of the principles of RF communication technology would be an asset. Scientists have used the National Science Foundation's Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) radio-telescope system and NASA's Cassini spacecraft to measure the position of Saturn and its family of moons to within about a mile -- at a range of nearly a billion miles. This feat improves astronomers' knowledge of the dynamics of our Solar System and also benefits interplanetary spacecraft navigation and research on fundamental physics.

Controller, Spacecraft Operations O3b Ref SES0515 Region Europe Location Luxembourg Betzdorf Company SES Category Space Operations Position Staff Published 20141217 Context The Spacecraft Controller is responsible for monitoring, control and health keeping of the O3b constellation. In particular, the Spacecraft Controller will need to react to emergencies within approved guidelines and escalate appropriately when needed. The incumbent will also be required to follow regular training sessions and assessments. This is a 24 hour Shift position. Responsibilities Perform daily operations of spacecraft in accordance with approved procedures and the daily operations plan Command the spacecraft and monitoring satellite health Perform routine operations telemetry dumps, AOSLOS from the different ground stations, upload payload daily mission, eclipses, table uploads, etc. React to emergencies within approved guidelines and notify appropriate staff based on escalation procedure Perform offline data analysis Attend regular refresher training sessions in order to maintain a certification level required to perform functions via regular assessment Rehearse on the simulator established nominal and contingency procedures Interface with the Network Operation Center. Experience Qualifications A technicalengineering degree in electronics, aeronautics or equivalent qualifications Experience in satellite operations and ground control systems would be an advantage Experience in LEO or MEO environment would be an advantage Willingness to work on shift Excellent operational mindset and awareness Good analytical skills Errorfree performance in high stress situations Excellent written and oral communication skills in English Flexibility, reliability and readiness to work without direct supervision Excellent team spirit Open minded.
