Vitrociset Belgium is looking for a candidate with the profile described below to deploy in ESOC in the domain of Satellite operations engineering. TASKS You will be required to configure the mission operational tools to support the operations. This task includes responsibility for the organisation, training and operational readiness of the Spacecraft Controllers. The operations are to be conducted according to established rules and procedures. This includes Setup of SC and operational data bases. Implement tools needed to manipulate the databases as required. Updating the data bases and performing maintenance of the data bases applying strict configuration control procedures. Conversion of industry provided databases into formats needed by the mission control system and operational tools. Applying configuration control procedures for documentation in use for all operational tasks and duties under his supervision. Imposition of the procedures. Preparation of data base documentation. Supervision of routine operations and any others authorised by the SOM, following established rules and procedures. In case of ground or space segment anomaly providing first level contingency recovery support. Introduction and maintenance of appropriate working practises and procedures for routine and problem reporting, data analysis, recording and maintenance of system status, recording of operational activities. Support system maintenance activities. Maintenance of a set of reference operational documentation and ensure operational changes are applied. Analysis as required of system problems by collection and evaluation of appropriate data sets using the reporting and analysis tools available. Collect information data regarding the execution of the mission and provide inputs for the various mission reports. Support data archiving and mission run down activities. You will be required to familiarise with the procedures, tools and activities that are needed to perform the preparation andor routine spacecraft control operations. If required for operational reasons, you should be able to take over the spacecraft controller tasks. You shall become familiar with the mission and the control facilities and you may be required to develop and install suitable tools to allow the efficient execution of the operational tasks. You may be required to analyse the system operations and to prepare procedures, and you will certainly be involved in the validation and testing of both the control system and the operational procedures. You will take part either in routine phase or in prelaunch test campaigns and simulations, and arrange for the participation of the spacecraft controllers. You will conduct regular postlaunch operational readiness training and simulations with controllers proficiency training. These tasks shall be performed during normal office hours, five days per week, with occasional shifts or overtime during special or critical activities such as prelaunch tests and simulations, launch campaign and LEOP, spacecraft anomalies. PROFILE A good background in a scientific or technical discipline is necessary, highly experienced in mission control. In view of the supervisory task, experience in the field of spacecraft operations is required, together with a sound knowledge of ground station and communication systems. The large involvement of this task in spacecraft and operational data base work requires a sound knowledge of commercial data base tools. A good knowledge in using MSOffice tools, such as MSEXCEL and MSACCESS, Visual Basic, ORACLE and SQL are required. Programming skills are an advantage. Knowledge of spacecraft control systems such as SCOS 2000 is highly desirable. The testing and validation of operational systems and procedures requires the identification and preparation of test configurations e.g. simulator, control system, network and communication links etc. Knowledge of SC simulators is an advantage. Strong skills in systemminded thinking and working are required. You shall be able to conduct all operations in an orderly and disciplined manner, and shall work calmly and correctly under stress. Vitrociset Belgium is looking for a candidate with the profile described below to deploy in ESOC in the domain of Satellite operations Engineering. TASKS You shall operate all or part of the mission system, which may incorporate parts of the ground segment as well as the space segment, as specified for each mission. The positions could cover pre and post launch activities. For prelaunch tasks, you will be required to assist in configuring and testing the operational system to support the operations. You may also be required to develop methods or tools to assist in the execution of the operations. You will be required to become familiar with the mission and the control facilities at your disposal. You will take part in simulations and prelaunch test campaigns, and in postlaunch refresher training and simulation. Postlaunch, you will monitor and control all operational progress, in accordance with the scheduled operations plan, ensuring that safety criteria are respected and that all operations are conducted in accordance with the established procedures perform specific operations relating to individual missions, as defined in the operations plans, or as instructed by the responsible SOM, SOE or Analyst immediately inform the responsible personnel when an anomaly is detected, in accordance with the established procedures take corrective action as necessary, applying the contingency emergency procedures approved for the mission coordinate with the responsible personnel for any scheduling required prepare operations reports as requested assist in the production of printouts, graphs and plots for offline evaluation and analysis prepare and complete all necessary forms for the daily operations routine. Regular use of a spacecraft simulator is to be planned for, but it has to be considered essential to the continued successful operation of a mission, but has a lower priority than operational tasks. Depending on the mission and the missions phase, the required support could be done in a shift rota to continuously have 24 hours manning team or normal office hours, with occasional shifts or overtime during special or critical activities such as prelaunch tests and simulations. PROFILE A good background in a scientific or technical discipline is necessary, to the level equivalent to Senior Technician. Experience operating spacecraft or related ground systems is highly desirable. Experience with using computer systems is required, and experience in data communication andor ground station systems is an advantage. Knowledge of spacecraft control systems such as SCOS 2000 is highly desirable. The Contractor should be able to demonstrate an orderly, reliable and disciplined approach to the execution of operations and be capable of working calmly and correctly under stress. Fluency in English is mandatory as this is the working language at ESAESOC. The post holder must be able to work effectively in this language. GEO Spacecraft Operations Engineer

One of our space clients in the UK is looking for an engineer to support development activities for their GEO platform product, focussing on aspects of system design pertaining to spacecraft operations. Support the delivery of GEO mission through to LEOP, inorbit commissioning, and handover to the customer. Key Tasks Work under the clients Spacecraft Operations Team to lead spacecraft operations developmental work for the companys GEO mission concept. Provide input and concept steer to system definition activities from a spacecraft operations perspective. Develop a GEO spacecraft operations CONOPS. Define strategies, procedures and processes for handling GEO operations for the concept, including but not limited to LEOP and Commissioning campaigns, ground station network interfaces, operations centre infrastructure requirements and redundancy, spacecraft ranging strategies, flight dynamics including orbital manoeuvres for station acquisition and conjunction assessment response, frequency coordination. Prepare the ground segment for supporting GEO spacecraft operations during LEOP and commissioning. Develop Flight Operations Handbook and Flight Operations Procedures. Develop planning and procedures for LEOP, Commissioning and IOT campaigns. Coordinate internal client operator and external customer operator training covering the GEO mission and associated Mission Control System elements. Perform procedure verification through test and suitable rehearsal activities in preparation for LEOP. Support coordination of activities during the LEOP, Commissioning and IOT campaigns, including platform checkout, acquisition of station, payload IOT and operational handover to the customer. Support the client Spacecraft Operations Team on new and existing LEO MEO missions as required Support client LEOMEO mission projects, providing operations support to existing operational spacecraft and current mission projects. Defining, documenting, and testing operational procedures Planning and managing spacecraft commissioning campaigns Support to customer engineer training activities. Routine monitoring of, and interaction with, client Spacecraft Support anomaly investigation activities. Analysis of historical trend data for spacecraft health monitoring Support to operations oncall activities. Qualifications Degree in Space Engineering, or similar. Experience Previous experience of spacecraft operations. Excellent working knowledge of GEO spacecraft operations and system development.
