ResponsibilitiesDuties Apply approved procedures take corrective actions in case of anomalies, and escalate for additional support if necessary Access telemetry, confirm the nominal spacecraft configuration as required by the scheduled operations Consult the logbook, routine and special operations file at every shift start and perform all operations and monitoring as defined or as instructed by the AnalystEngineer Interface and coordinate clearly with the relevant operators or responsible teams in case of ground segment anomalies computer, links, ground stations. QualificationsExperience A good working background in a related discipline A Technical College or similar Degree in a related discipline Electronics, IT, Space, Physics, Process Control. Heshe will take a leading role in all activities related to the preparation for and execution of inorbit operations of the Sentinel3A satellite, and in preparatory activities for the launch and operations of the recurrent Sentinel3 satellites Sentinel3B, C. Duties The main duties of the post will be to Assume responsibility for the conduct of routine operations of the S3 space segment Lead a team of spacecraft operations engineers and analysts focussing on ensuring and improving the robustness of satellite and related ground system operations Define, implement, and maintain S3 satellite system operations, planning and reporting and operations engineering processes within the satellite operations team Chair daily S3 operations briefings, the daily Anomaly Review Board and Configuration Management Board process Manage the S3 Operations Controller team service contract at the operational and technical service level Ensure the adequacy of tools, databases, configurations and documentation to support satellite operations and their interfaces with the overall system operations, including the satellite simulator and onboard software maintenance tools Initiate and coordinate operations rehearsals and ensure adequacy of training provided to the satellite team personnel and the supporting analysts controllers Define and manage the operational aspects of the Sentinel3 industrial support contract during routine operations Participate in the management of the inorbit operations and operations preparation of the S3 satellites in all mission phases Coordinate special satellite operations phases, activities and incident reviews, in close collaboration with satellite and subsystem operations engineers Assist in the provision of training to EUMETSAT Mission Control Centre operations personnel Support other LEO mission preparations activities as required. Qualifications University degree in a relevant discipline. Skills and Experience Proven management capabilities in a similar position At least ten years professional experience in the field of low Earth orbit satellite operations, gained in the development, integration or operation of an Earth Observation space system Ability to understand and synthesise complex issues, coupled with good teamworking and organisational skills Good interpersonal skills are required, with a proven ability to work both as part of a team, and to lead a team. Tasks This position is covering a SPACON Spacecraft Operations Service primarily assigned to Lisa Pathfinder mission but with the possibility of supporting other missions within the Astronomical Missions Division. The areas of service provision for the SPACON service are Launch Preparation Internal SPACON Team training from spacecraft and ground segment documentation, including handson. Writing and Validation of SPACON procedures for Lisa Pathfinder Spacecraft, MCS, Ground Segment and MPS procedures for routine and contingency activities. Support ground segment validation activities SOVT, SVT, MRT,DataFlow,,, Participation in the Simulations Campaign, which includes simulations for all mission phases. LEOP Support From L48hr DressRehearsal to Trajectory Correction Manoeuvre. LEOP will require 24hour per day console coverage, with a nominal duration of 10days Commissioning Activities, starting from end of LEOP for 2months Nominally support is 1 x 8hr pass per day. With short periods 23days planned in advance for special operations where 2 x 8hr passes will be supported. It would be expected that 34 such periods would occur during commissioning. Routine Operations Nominally support to 1 x 8hr pass per day. Adhoc special operations planned in advance where 2 x 8hr periods should be supported, typically 2days per month for special operations. In addition to the routine responsibilities of command uplink, telemetry checking and routine ground station coordination, the SPACON will also be responsible for the daily routine Mission Planning Operations, including processing any routine replanning requests, and update of such requests on the MCS and spacecraft via the SPACON procedures.
