Spacecraft Operations Engineer Sentinel 3

We are currently looking for a Spacecraft Operations Engineer for Sentinel 3 to support our customer in Germany. Spacecraft Operations Engineer Sentinel 3 Key Tasks and Responsibilities Supporting the Earth Observation Missions Division, you will have the following responsibilities Validation, test and operation of the MCS, including the OBSM and Mission Planning System Validation, test and operation of the Simulator Generation, validation and maintenance of the FOP primarily on System Volumes but also for other subsystems as required Support for FOS procurement, integration and tests Support the interfaces with external partners Industry, PDGS, CNES, EUMETSAT Review of satellite documents LEOP support support SOM and the Deputy SOM as System operations engineer Commissioning support support SOM and the Deputy SOM in the preparation, implementation and execution of the Commissioning Plan. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University Degree in Engineering or a related subject Spacecraft System Operations knowledge, including FDIR SW at HW level, interfaces between Platform and SW, AOCS and instruments Expertise in an operational environment Experience with flight procedures life cycle, including preparation of high level plans timelines, phase dependent plans Experience with organization or execution tests involving both ground and space segment Experience with anomaly investigations Experience with Packet Utilisation Standards Familiarity with low Earth orbit satellites is advantageous Familiarity with satellite control systems, in particular SCOS2000, would be an advantage Ability to understand and accurately predict behaviour of complex systems Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. Spacecraft and Ground Segment Analyst

Thorn SDS is a seeking experienced Spacecraft and Ground Segment Analysts to support in the prospective development of an operational capability in Darmstadt Germany. We are planning to establish a core team of 56 individuals that have to be available for client interview late December 2014. The service commences in 2016 for a 5year commitment. The Analysis Team will be responsible for the organisation, training and operational proficiency of the Controller Team amongst other tasks. Typical tasks and responsibilities will include The coordination of the scheduled daytoday activities in the control centre and all manned facilities of the MSG and MTG systems, according to established rules and procedures, in particular acting as the link between the Controller Team and the Operations and Maintenance Engineers To perform the weekly scheduling function, gathering all operations ad a maintenance input on conducting initial conflict resolution. Maintenance of the spacecraft and ground segment database. To support mission planning and scheduling coordination. Operation of the configuration control system and procedures for operational data. Maintenance of the DCP management database to ensure the smooth running of the DCP service and the followup of user enquiries. Mission performance data analysis and reporting day to day tracking of mission performance for anomaly investigation and reporting purposes Maintenance of a set of configuration controlled reference operational documentation and ensure changes are applied operationally. Analysis as required of system problems by collection and evaluation of appropriate data sets using the reporting and analysis tools available. The successful candidates will be required to analyse the system operations, prepare procedures, and be involved in the validation and testing of updates to both the control system and the operational procedures. They will also take part, as required, in operational system validation activities and simulations, and arrange for the participation of the controllers. All applicants must have a good background within a scientific or technical discipline at a relatively senior level. Good IT skills is essential along with experience with realtime systems, the application of procedures, and operational environments. A good working knowledge of the English language, both spoken and written, is a must. French andor German would be considered to be advantageous. We are planning to establish a core team of 68 individuals that have to be available for client interview late December 2014. The service commences in 2016 for a 5year commitment. The Controller Team will primarily be responsible for operating the MSG and the MTG systems. Typical tasks and responsibilities will include To monitor and control all operational progress on a 247 basis, in accordance with the scheduled operations plan in accordance with the established procedures. To perform first line reporting and analysis ground and space segment anomalies in accordance with established procedures. To coordinate the daytoday scheduled and contingency operations in the control centre and support the process of mission planning schedule consolidation and generation. To assist in the production of printouts, graphs and plots for offline evaluation and analysis. To maintain and control the UMARF via a remote terminal in accordance with established procedures during the hours the UMARF is not maintained with routine OPS staff. To coordinate with all external entities and partners connected to the Operational Systems for planned and contingency operations. To perform regular activations of the Backup Control Centres. To coordinate with the responsible personnel for any scheduling required. All applicants must have a good background in a scientific or technical role at a fairly senior level. Tasks The primary area of responsibility for this position is Mass Memory and Formatting Unit, SBand and XBand Subsystems, but the candidate may be requested to assume the responsibility and perform activities for additional subsystems or systems within the scope of general SOE services. The candidate will be responsible for MMFU, SBand and XBand Commissioning. Regarding LEOP, heshe will be assigned to a minor role with limited responsibilities, as the MMFU and XBand will not be activated.
