Responsibilities Provide day to day system engineering support to programme team Ensure contract requirements are flown down to subcontractors, subsystem and system requirements Support component design reviews, test activities, data reviews, anomaly investigations and resolutions Support system design reviews, test activities, data reviews, anomaly investigations and resolutions Provide summary of daily activities and technical status including recommended actions to functional manager Support the tracking, resolution and closure of unit and system level problem reports. Track system budgets Provide 247 on call support during single line flow. Experience Qualifications Engineering Degree with at least 7 years of experience in the satellite operations andor procurement field At least 7 years of professional experience in a satellite engineering assignment or equivalent Have a thorough understanding of all satellite manufacturing processes and procedures, spacecraft handling, integration and test, quality control and product assurance Have a thorough understanding of spacecraft test methods and flow Have working knowledge of spacecraft handling Ability to work on day to day issues with manufacturer and programme team Fluency in English any other language being an asset Good communication skills and teamspirit Travel as required. Responsibilities Ensure that the specification of each payload equipment unit is consistent with meeting the endtoend system performance and functional requirements Ensure that all payload unit, subsystem and system test procedures comply with the contractual requirements Participate in design, test readiness, material and failure review meetings at manufacturer sub and prime contractor facilities as needed Monitor flow of payload components thru build, test and integration into the next higher assembly Review and approve manufacturing and test documentation Monitor daily payload activities at spacecraft manufacturer facility, in coordination with coworkers in the field office Ensure that all payload non conformances and deviations are timely reviewed and assessed, by seeking concurrence from the line manager and from relevant experts within the Company Provide 247 on call support during payload system testing Support Launch Base Testing, Launch Day support, and Payload IOT testing. Experience Qualifications Master Degree or equivalent in ElectricalTelecommunication Engineering 12 years related work experience in RF engineering work, ideally in relation to spacecraft disciplines Understanding of payload architecture, design and manufacturing RF equipment, repeater and antenna subsystem Link budgets repeater RF performance measurement Integration and testing Quality control essentials Ability to work day to day issues with manufacturer and programme team Basic experience in spacecraft payload mission specification Basic experience in satellite payload operations Excellent communications skills both written and oral Negotiation skills, assertiveness Strong computer software skills Willingness to travel on a regular basis. Tasks and Responsibilities Operate on a 247 shift basis all or part of the mission control system, which includes parts of the ground segment as well as the space segment Assist in configuring and testing the operational system to support the operations In case of ground or space segment anomaly take corrective action as necessary, applying the contingencyemergency procedures approved for the mission to ensure spacecraft safety and the continuity of service provision to users Participate in other operationsrelated activities small system development, procedures development or maintenance etc upon request of the Team Leader. Requirements Candidates should have a solid background in a technical or electronic environment, to the level of Senior Technician. A formal qualification to ONC or HNC would be advantageous. Ex service personnel should have completed a service College apprenticeship in electronicstelecommunications, and possess a background in Avionics, Air Defence, Air Radar or Communications. Alternatively the position is also open for graduates with a qualification in a related subject such as Aerospace Engineering, Satellite Communications, Telecommunications, Physics etc. Experience working with computer systems and PC literacy is required. Database knowledge would be useful. Candidates must be adaptable, selfdisciplined and able to work in a calm and correct manner under conditions of stress. The position requires working a shift rota candidates must be able to fit in well within a small operations team. This post is classified in the A2A4 grade band of the Coordinated Organisations salary scale. LOCATION ESOC, Darmstadt Germany. DUTIES The postholder will be assigned initially to the Swarm Flight Control Team as operations engineer and will report to the Swarm Spacecraft Operations Manager SOM. The tasks will include the following Assisting the SOM as deputy for the preparation and execution of the Swarm operations including routine, extended and endofmission phases Assisting the SOM in the evolution and validation of the Flight Operations Segment FOS including internal and external interfaces Planning and execution of routine and special operations, including calibrations, mission planning, reporting, anomaly investigation and resolution Analysing and reporting on spacecraft and ground segment longterm analysis and behaviour performance Interfacing with the ESRIN Mission Management and, as required, Payload Data Ground Segment, for mission and ground segmentrelated activities Interfacing with industry and ESTEC specialists for technical matters including special operations, changes to spacecraft design and operations documentation and performance reports Interfacing with other ESOC divisions for spacecraft operations matters Providing support to the SOM in the reviews and preparations of other Earth Observation missions delegated to the Earth Observation Missions Division i.e. Earth ExplorersCopernicus. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in engineering or physics, together with good professional experience in spacecraft andor operational applications. Candidates should be systemminded, be able to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team, be selfmotivateddisciplined and resultsoriented. Experience with both Platform and Payload Operations is highly desirable. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these two languages is required together with a working knowledge of the other language. Knowledge of another member state language is an asset.
