DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1100 PM AST (0300 UTC), the center of Hurricane Leslie was located near latitude 30.6 North, longitude 57.0 West. Leslie is moving toward the north near 8 mph (13 km/h), and this general motion should continue through Friday night. A sharp turn to the east is expected this weekend. Maximum sustained winds remain near 80 mph (130 km/h) with higher gusts. Small fluctuations in intensity are likely during the next day or two. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 35 miles (55 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 205 miles (335 km). The estimated minimum central pressure is 975 mb (28.80 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- SURF: Large swells generated by Leslie will continue to affect portions of the southeastern coast of the United States, Bermuda, and the Bahamas during the next few days.
